A silent crow sitting in autumn in Donaupark, Vienna. Not so long ago, with the first danube regulation in 1870, this former wetland and riparian forest was reclaimed and used as shooting range and garbage dumb, with settlers building wooden huts nearby, the so called Bretteldorf. Until the use of garbage incineration in the city the amount of deposited waste steadily increased until it eventually replaced all settlers one year before the garbage dumb was closed and the area refurbished. Finally, the Donaupark was opened for the international garden festival in 1964.
