So I moderate for a number of Communities in Steemit using Discord and one of my tasks is welcoming new people and answering questions, mediating for disputes and kicking out undesirables so it is an extension of my tasks as an HR personnel in real life. So it means it as thankless as what I do with my life.

Maybe someone misread an answer that I gave in one chat about my personality of being a mediator and thought that I wanted to be a moderator and so added the role. I couldn't refuse because I don't like letting people down so here we are Moderator Mave!

Day 1

So in comes Horrny!!! A new member of the channel and the first thing he says is where are my upvotes here?

Whoa, whoa slow down buy me a drink at the very least or dinner so we can get to know each other better.

I try to chat with Horrny and he asks on how to register for an upvote bot on the server. I tell him there isn't one but you can receive a community upvote if you participate and join the games from time to time.

He says he does not have time to join on frivolous things like that and only need people to look at his posts and upvote. I did not like Horrny from the first message he sent to chat and every succeeding minute.

It is as if the only words that come out of his mouth is Upvote me!, Upvote me!

You might want to get to know some of the people and join in the fun sometimes. And then there was silence...

Day 2

I was bored listening to a meeting of managers yak on how their team does not have any problems when I know for a fact that everyone from her team hates her and wants to resign but I managed to them out of that plan.

I get several notifications of complaints. It was Horrny again and this time he was complaining in the chat that the post he made yesterday no one had upvoted for it. It was the best post written in Steemit and people who matter need to read it. "So Upvote me!" Horrny says.

I asked him, what have you done with the community? Have you visited the other members and left comments on their post? Have you talked to anyone since yesterday?

And then there was silence...

Day 3

I woke up to constant pinging sounds from Discord and only to see a heated discussion in the channel about curation rewards and upvotes. Can you guess who was leading the arguments? Yup, it was Horrny again.

He was telling everyone how he is the greatest writer and that he has a publish Ebook on building a business on the internet. His latest post was about how to get people to upvote your post and so far only has his self-upvote on the piece.

Not only was he being argumentative in the chat he also sent me 6 days worth of his posts with the message that I need it in my life. He said aside from the posts he can also send me his manual of how to be successful in Steemit like he is. Talk about a hard sell!

He kinda reminds me of these bogus online marketing gurus who for the very affordable price of $15 dollars, he will send you his words of wisdom and you can earn millions!

Time to use my mediation powers and if it fails then moderator powers it is!

Horrny was arguing that his posts were the best and yet was not getting any curation from the community or people here. No one was visiting and not even the moderator.

Another member was engaging him in the discussion of curation and freedom to choose. Yet he remained stubborn that everyone was losing out on his great content and should be voting it up.

He said he took a look at my Steem Power and should give him 100% upvotes everytime he posts so that he grows fast. He also opened the discussion that people should delegate their Steem Power to him because he is so good.

I don't know where he is getting this pride but I've had enough already! Apparently, he also had enough and said that people simply cannot understand his work because he is so far ahead in the future and would be influential in the platform. So he left the server and then there was silence...

So there you have it a glimpse of the craziness I have to encounter on people that still have the scarcity model of thinking and just wanting to get upvotes.

It is a combination of different scenarios that I have encountered for being a mediator, of I mean moderator.
