Unboxing Sideshow’s Mystique Premium Format
Yesterday the brand new Mystique Premium Format Statue arrived at the shop and I’d like to unbox this beauty along side you today. It actually arrived a few days ago but I had to finagle some space for her so it sat for a few days....but that’s just samantics. The important thing is that it’s here!
Ok, if you are not familiar with Mystique already then I’ll do a quick recap for ya. Mystique was created by artist Dave Cockrum (RIP) & writer Chris Claremont and first appeared waaaaay back in Ms. Marvel #16 in 1978. She’s a mutant baddie with the amazing powers of shapeshifting and can mimic anyone including voice and manuerisms with near perfection. Her trademark look is her blue skin and yellow eyes. She’s been portrayed by both Rebecca Romijn and Jennifer Lawrence in some of the X-Men films throughout the years.
Also just because I totally dig this piece, here is a fantastic work of art by the master Adam Hughes!
Alright! Now that the school session is done, let’s get down to the statue. As I mentioned earlier...this is the Premium Format piece from Sideshow. It’s a 1/4 scale statue that measures just over a foot and a half in height and just over a foot in length. It’s not a super heavy piece weighing in at just over ten pounds.
The box looks sharp as most Sideshow pieces do but we are not here to stare at cardboard...are we?!?
The first thing I’ll point out is that as per the usual, it arrives in several pieces. Base, body, head, right arm, left arm, and front of costume. Simple enough!
The base is nice and simple but nothing overly impressive. I got number 101/1200. Let’s start piecing this beauty together...
Annnnnnd that’s it. Took about 30 seconds to piece it all together. No hiccups or snags as sometimes happens with these statues. By that I mean sometimes the peg and holes are misaligned and that creates a shitty situation. The worst was when we got our Creature From The Black Lagoon piece that had no hole drilled in the base. Ugh...
Anyway, she’s all done and ready for display. It’s a nice simple piece with an even more simple base. Lovely but in my honest opinion, overpriced at the $560 dollar sticker price...but that’s Sideshow!
Goddamn $560,-!!! That's a bit steep... I'd love to get my hands on one and make a copy LOL. But that probably won't happen in 560 years. I'd have to be swimming in crypto to be considering something like that. And even then, I'd probably feel guilty for spending that much money when it could feed a family or a few....
I do love the statue though. And I LOVE Mystique. She has always been my favorite X-Men villain. I even used the name for my first ever e-mail account with Hotmail 😂 🤣. She's badass. And this statue is pretty damn good too, just not $560,- good LOL.
I know right?!? Sometimes this industry blows my mind with what some of this stuff fetches.

It is a killer piece and collectibles as a whole have come a long way towards being truly breathtaking....and expensive. Lol

LOL, yeah...well, Steem would have to go to beyond extreme numbers for me to justify a purchase like that. Unless, of course, I can justify it because it will be worth more in the future. And from what I've seen so far, it does. I just checked out a Gambit (my other favorite, do you see how I'm leaning towards evil - naughty? I LOVE Magneto too!) statue and it was about $1500 or more! That might make me rethink the whole thing and buy every statue you/they have LOL.
