Ok, the dust has settled, hype has moved on to something else, shelves have been restocked, additional copies circulated, and the secondary market’s comic book pump and dumps have dissipated. Let’s look at July 10, 2019’s comic book releases and see if there is anything of value that I might be interested in purchasing for the long haul.

This is a new idea I had last night, wherein I thought I’d circle back a few weeks and check in on comics there either a) sold out that week and/or b) too expensive to pick up online at that time as my LCS did not have copies. So with that said, let’s take a look.

Amazing Spider-Man 25 H Cover Greg Smallwood Variant 1:50 Ratio

This one was selling for $40-$50 USD the week of its release. Today, you can find this one on eBay with actual sales in the $18 - $22 USD currently. Current listings are anywhere from $21 USD to $75 USD…that’s quite a spread. I’m going to try to get a copy, with shipping in the $18 USD or less range. Why? I love Spider-Man, I love Mysterio, and I love the art work on this issue. I’m holding firm to my bid price, and hope to score this one in the coming weeks.

The key for this issue, to me, is the lack of the Marvel rectangle in the upper left hand corner of the cover. So if you are interested in this issue too, keep an eye out for that discrepancy; the 1:50 ratio does not have markings in the upper left hand corner as depicted in the image above.

Jim Henson’s Beneath the Dark Crystal 11 B Cover David Petersen Variant

I loved the film as a child, and I’ve noticed these Boom Studios! issues each week they are out. There is something very esoteric and ancient in the art of these covers. This one is actually quite stunning; this might be a set I need to do some further research on and attempt to pick up for my daughter’s collection.

This one is holding its value around $8 USD (vs $3.99 USD cover price) over the past month or so.

Another one I probably will pass on, but if you are interested, value is holding in the $20 USD range. One could have picked it up for $14 USD the week of the release online. This might hold some value long term.

Second Coming 1 B Cover Richard Pace Variant

Another one that is holding some value a month after the fact; you could have picked this up for $3.99, yet today it will cost you around $8-10USD per copy. I haven’t read this one yet, but I definitely want to at some point in the future.

Also of note if interested :

• Reaver 1 is restocked for cover price online
• Strangelands 1 is restocked for cover price online

Everything else that was released that week seems to be very in close to cover price value, as of today.
