"The community needs to come together!!!"

Anyone that knows me, knows how pointless i find this statement to be. A platitude void of any substance.
The reason i find it pointless is because it doesnt really mean anything. It doesnt really do anything or call upon any action. This statement is simply put: "Nothing".
And its repeated over and over again as if it gave the speaker some kind of divine purpose..

The reason i mentioned this statement is simple. This statement is the epitome of many things wrong with STEEM right now.
It hides the true nature of STEEM dynamics, it creates the idea that we should all act in unison like we are all equal and should care the same, it serves the politicians among us that cater towards both sides of the court and profit from it.
To express my self in a more vulgar and colorful way:

"That statement is crap".

As an example, take a look at the recent Steem Foundation thing that has been going on for the last 3 months. (Maybe its really not that recent. lol)
This platitude could have been heard so many times during the talks about what the foundation is, what it will be. Etc.
I have given my opinion about the foundation many times so i wont go into depth but the crux of things is that in the end the only thing that matters is how much money Ned gives the foundation account.
But lets go on.

1. Who even is this community we talk about?

Is it everyone involved? From the 100SP holder to the 1 million SP holder?
If it is then you will never see the two come together just because everyone gets to vote on who the popular kids of the week that run a Steemit.inc funded account will be. Why did anyone think that getting to vote for a few folks would unite the user base?
That makes absolutely no sense. I see it all basically as a show for those that like to say "Community good. Community best. Community awesome" .

2. The small SP holders generally wont care nearly as much about this platform as those that invested a lot in it and when small SP holders see that a huge number of those that invested a lot in the platform dont give a damn about it (bots, circle jerks, greed, selfishness) then the small SP holders will care even less.

I mean its pretty simple. If youre an influencer and a high stake holder and the users that run into you perceive you as a selfish prick that only cares about short term gains, then other users will act the same way.

If those that are invested in the platform to a high degree dont give a damn about it because they are betting that another whale, orca will care, so the platform doesnt fail while they stuff their pockets, why wouldnt the minnow be selfish as well and just hope the other minnows wont be.

Those that hold the most SP run the game.. Their actions determine if STEEM will fail or succeed. They determine the behavior on this platform, they determine in what direction STEEM will go.

Ill tell you what i think is actually the right course. Some whales have realized it, some have yet to do so.

If you want the "community", or rather the biggest, most numerous part of the community to act in a way that is beneficial to the platform and the investors, then you need to throw around some $$$.

There is no "coming together".. There is not enough common ground between the haves and have nots... But what you can do is give folks a bit of money and i guarantee that you can get a lot of things done.
Yes it is as simple as that. It has always been as simple as that.

There is nothing ethereal, other worldly, special or profound about the STEEM community as much as we would like to think otherwise.
Its just people.
And the best way to motivate people is by rewarding their efforts. The best way to motivate people is by giving them this...

Just a few thoughts as always..

Ill see you around and keep on!. :D

Community? Never heard of it.

It comes up from time to time presented as a deus ex machina that will cure everything if only it could piece itself together. 😂

It often feels like 1 person pretending to be 20 others around here.

Or, am I confusing that with circle jerks?

i first read it as Platypus, and was like why would you insert platypus there? ok maybe platypus would be nice on the shirt :D

well i wrote few times about the stakes. if steem goes to 10$ i would have around 19.000$. is it a lot, for me it probably is. is it life changing, not really. but someone that has 100.000 steem, it would go from 50.000$ to a 1 mill. that could be a life changing. so who should care more?
