Pay It Forward Spotlight #1 - @kaliju, @steemfleamarket, @zenbot

Spotlight.png

This is the first in what I plan to make a series of spotlight posts for those who either are taking part in or are supporting the #payitforward curation contest. No idea of how often these will come out, but know if I'm featuring someone it's because they are worth not only visiting, but following and supporting. These will be people who going above and beyond to help either the platform, newbies, or the contest grow.

A Little Background

I've been following @kaliju for months now and honestly can't even remember how I ended up finding him. One thing I've enjoyed are his random photos of Korea and it's something I would look for during the week as I enjoy seeing the real views of different parts of the world. Don't want to see travel brochure style photos...keep it real and tell the rest of the world what it's really like.

From there we have chatted via comments for months and then on discord. Lately @kaliju stepped up and has been supporting the Pay It Forward Curation Contest which is great! His upvote to each of the Judges Choice winners has made becoming a Judges Choice worth a nice immediate payout.

He is just an all around good guy and I think his tagline (or wahtever it's called) shows why we probably get along.

Steemulating visual blog and moreヾ(⌐■_■)ノ Pay it forward In the name of Freedom and STEEM!

Would rather you check out his blog and see all the things he posts about over blabbering here, but to say the least he covers a range of topics. Instead of going into detail about the different topics he talks about I'd rather spotlight a couple projects he is working on.

@kaliju's Projects

Going to share 2 projects including one that really was just relaunched this weekend. These are both worth taking a look at and hopefully one or both will help you grow your account.

Steem Flea Market

@kaliju posted Steem Flea Market - A Circular Market Initiative on the Steem Blockchain which is his idea that we need a place to be able to facilitate transactions between steemians for things they wanted to sell. This idea is AMAZING!

Think of it this way. You want to increase your SP but don't want to put your hard earned cash into the system because you either can't afford to or just aren't 100% sure what you think of this place yet. On the other hand there are plenty of steemians that have earned SBD that would like to be able to use it to purchase stuff, but hate the process of converting to bitcoin, then converting to fiat, to then be able to buy the stuff.

So you look around the house and find say $100 worth of stuff that you post and sell. That really isn't a crazy number and most people can do this pretty easily. Now you can use that SBD to purchase SP and power up your account. How long do you think it would take you to earn $100 worth for SP? Today that would be about 40 +/- SP that could be added to your account. Even at my size that is more then I add in a month without putting cash into the system. For a new steemian 40sp is a huge boost to their accounts and imagine being able to constantly be able to get some clutter out of your home and turn it into SP powering up your account.

@STEEMFLEAMARKET is the original, free-to-use circular market hub focusing on trading, buying/selling and giving away the stuff you no longer need to those that do!

Paid Manual Curation, @zenbot

Ok I know that many people take serious issue with bid bots and how they effect the overall pool. The original thought behind them (supposedly) was to help people gain exposure and it wasn't about profiting from the votes. But they are abused and partly because it's all automated upvotes purely based on the size of your bid.

@zenbot is different in that all content is manually reviewed by @kaliju so a payment doesn't guarantee a vote. Submit plagiarized crap and you aren't getting a vote. Submit amazing content and you may well find yourself a new follower, be resteemed, and gain extra voted on other posts if he really likes your content.

Here is @zenbots most recent post reminding people to check the status before sending SBD.

That's a wrap

To say that I am a little excited about the idea of @steemfleamarket is an understatement as this is how I make a living. All my businesses revolve around buying and selling of goods. If I can skip all the headaches of selling something, transferring money to coinbase, buying BTC, transfering to bittrex, selling BTC, Buying Steem, transfering steem to steemit, and then powering up I am all for saving all that time and fees!

Now go take a look at @kaliju's account and see if he is someone you should be following.

Small gift of appreciation

Each person I feature is getting 1 #steembasicincome share as a small token of my appreciation for their efforts.

Steem-Bounty

To help manage my VP so I have more for the Pay It Forward Contest I'm putting a 2 SBD #steem-bounty on this post. It will allow me to give smaller votes while still rewarding you with higher amounts. @steem-bounty program has been great to help with engagement and rewarding people on the curation contest, but realized today that it might also help me manage my VP on other posts to allow me to give larger upvotes to the featured bloggers in the curation contest. Lets see how this work out!

Same rules as always, if you are trying to take the bounty by posting a crap comment and self voting I'll flag you.

Such a positive post, feels weird being in the spotlight :D I wish I could upvote this higher. I guess this is one way we can use bots to show appreciation to one another (っ^▿^) Thank you @thedarkhorse - I'm curious to see if anyone finds @steemfleamarket a working solution. I'm working to secure some delegation of SP to the project so that every offer can be up-voted to cover basic things like shipping fees but we shall see...
Thanks for your support everyone, it's great that we have each other here as one special tribe!

It does feel weird when others talk about you, doesn't it...lol. I've had the hardest time getting used to seeing comments praising my efforts.

Hope that we can get the word out there to enough people. To me it's a great idea, but we need both buyers and sellers to make it happen.

I recommended @steemmarket to a couple of people . Yesterday I saw on of their posts and it had a Tag of steemmarket . I have not received any feedback on it yet . I am also looking to see how it works out . As it grows maybe it will become more regional .

@thedarkhorse Yeah, the market will decide. I guess as a last ditch effort what I can do is create a post and boost it with like a 100SBD or something to make it reach trending so that people can at least see that it's a thing...otherwise I see no way for it. Because if this was truly needed - it'd already be up and running. I'm working on an interface outside of steemit, but that might take a while without anyone willing to step in to help develop it.

I will get some items up next week. Have a some vintage toys that I can get up and that might draw some attention. Sealed Star Wars is always an easy sell so hopefully that will help draw some attention.

Yes! Can't wait :D

I am so excited about the flea market project!! I had met @kaliju in Discord last month when the project was on hold. I have been waiting for it to come back. I also make money selling on a handful of venues. It would be great for me if I could use this as a source of SP. I love Pay It Forward but feel bad to visit and comment without voting. This could help speed up growth.
I did not know about @zenbot. That could also be a huge help. Will check into it thanks.

Honestly I think it could be a game changer for a lot of people if we can get a marketplace like this running. Think of not paying fees for selling your stuff and instantly being able to power up your account.

I'm already a huge fan of @kaliju
I do like the steemit flea market idea though I'm not completely sure how this works in reality. I will be paying attention as it develops! I pick up occasional collectibles which might be worth selling on at some point.

I also love @zenbot though I hope it's rested enough soon as I'd love to support it again. I do think there is plenty of room for manual upvoters to help us minnows have a decent payout and to increase our SP faster (that being the #1 benefit I've seen since using a very small group of upvoting services.) The hardest thing for newbies is to know which upvoters are safe and worthwhile. @zenbot is definitely one of the best ones out there. (I also recommend @treeplanter and @thundercurator as well as @minnowbooster.)

You can feel good supporting a good upvoter because your payments are increasing his SP, which in turn, allows him to upvote you better, more frequently and support others as well. To me, it's a win-win-win situation!

Something else I really love about @kaliju is that he really does look at the posts he upvotes and sometimes upvotes you on his own just because he likes what you do. Find me another paid upvoter who does that!!!

thank you for this post @thedarkhorse; I too appreciate @kaliju for all he's doing for the contest, but I had no edea about @steemfleamarket and have forwarded it to a few people I think might be interested. It has such potential :)

@kaliju the flea market idea is pure genius and thank you @thedarkhorse for posting about it!

Steem Flea Market sounds like a real cool thing. I saw people seelling stuff from time to time but this all added up in one database and search function would really simplify selling stuff on here.

Already checking me out @zenbot and will definitely give it a try also to see his opinion on my post!

Wow, I am really excited about this post. I too have made much of my living for years buying and selling. Much of the little I had left to sell has already been shipped to where I am relocating, but will definitely see if @steemfleamarket is doable once I get settled in. The flea markets there aren't quite what they are here in Tucson.

Wow. I am absolutely loving how #payitforward initiative is evolving.
Looking forward to more @thedarkhorse

Payitforward spotlight is another great project from @thedarkhorse. And I congratulate @kaliju for getting your light on him even though he deserves better. I've not yet read his articles and project @steemfleamarket and @zenbots and am curious. Am going to read about them. Thanks a lot @thedarkhorse for far all your efforts

A good initiative...Those who follows you and the pay it forward series this would be of great initiative, this also shows how much serious you with the members and also to the commitment to their cause.

I really liked this idea and this steem flee market must be another feather in this world...

Thank you...Stay blessed and keep connected

Was thinking about some ideas to expand the Pay It Forward movement beyond just being a contest and this was one step. More to come.

Think the Flea Market has serious potential for helping people gain SP to power up their accounts and it will make SBD have the purpose of being treated as a currency which IMO has serious value.

True, such initiative should be spread as much as possible. Especially the way Pay It forward functions. it is a great morale boost for newbies if they will get the correct message behind it.

And waiting for Steemworld to fly to the air...

All the best in advance
