Introduction

Today I will discuss about the basic parts of a computer system unit. This photo above is an example of a system unit, however most of us call this as CPU but that is basically wrong. A CPU is a small chip and is the heart and brain of a computer system which I will explain further in the next photo.

CPU (Central Processing Unit)

A CPU is the most important part of a system unit. It handles the basic input and output processing of instructions in a computer system. It is the core a computer and it is the one that makes it run as it should.

Motherboard

A motherboard holds mostly of the parts of the computer system, one of which is the CPU which can be seen above. The motherboard enables the communication of the different parts of a computer system.

Heat Sink And Fan

This helps to make the temperature of the CPU cooler since the CPU temperature is realtively high.

RAM Sticks (Random Access Memory)

This part of the computer system stores temporary data that is currently in used.

HDD (Hard Disk Drive)

This part of the computer system stores permanent data. Your operating system, applications, games and files are commonly stored here.

SATA Cable (Serial Advance Technology Attachment)

This part connects the hard disk drive to the motherboard. It is the bridge of data transfer from the HDD to the motherboard and vice versa.

PSU (Power Supply Unit)

This part of the computer system converts the the AC main electricity to DC power to supply power to the different parts of the computer system.

Computer Case

This holds all the parts of a computer system and helps protect the parts from damage.

GPU (Graphics Processing Unit)

This part of the computer is specialized for graphics function such as rendering photos, animations and videos for the computer system's monitor.
