Graham Hancock's banned TED Talk on "The War of Consciousness"

I'm quite impressed with Graham Hancock and have been binge watching interviews with him over the past few days.

He's been studying history for years, however his findings and theories have been quite different from what mainstream archaeology teaches us, and he has been ridiculed and called a "pseudo scientist" by them. If they were to accept his research, they would literally have to accept that we would have to rewrite history. I'm glad that never stopped him.

A big part of his studies also relates to the evolution of consciousness and the fact that all ancient peoples used psychedelics - plant medicine - in their cultures. In their visions, individuals were shown new technologies and healing methods, and received new creative energy from it.

Psychedelics were (are) an important driver of human evolution

However in recent history and especially since "the war on drugs", humanity has been cut off from this important source of knowledge and healing.

In this TED Talk, which ended up being banned, Graham Hancock talks about Ayahuasca and how successful it is for example in the treatment of serious addictions, and how people leave retreats not only free from their addiction, but also without any withdrawal symptoms.

He talks about how psychedelics like DMT or psilocybin can give you life changing experiences that simply make you want to be a better person. And yet, with these phenomenally good properties, they are forbidden in our societies and we can get arrested even for just holding small quantities. (We should all get arrested for DMT since this is a hormone we actually produce in our own bodies.)

He says this is a War on Consciousness, and that every adult should be free to make their own choices about what substances they want to use, as long as they don't harm anyone. The chances of you harming anyone while on psychedelics are pretty much zero, as the main thing they do is make you feel utterly connected with everyone and everything - there's a higher chance you're going to hug someone rather than harm them...

Of course bringing more love to the world is way less profitable than causing more wars, which is why psychedelics have been demonised and we have been misinformed about them for decades. Our consciousness has pretty much been held hostage by the powers that be, and we've been kept from expanding.

But maybe things are slowly changing. Cannabis is being legalised in more and more countries, and psilocybin (magic mushrooms) have been decriminalized at least in Denver, Colorado this week.

Maybe we get to be allowed to be in charge of our own consciousness again soon! Legally.
