Hi Steemit lovers!

This is my entry to the #365daysofwriting challenge hosted by @mydivathings, here the link if you want to participate. The next picture is by Felix Besombe in Unsplash. Unfortunately I haven't posted this story yesterday (or today in the morning) because I had problems with the internet. Anyway I hope you enjoy it.

Shadows

The dark alley was the place for a terror story, I guess. In a cold night, a lonely girl was heading home from the Big Show, an old theater in the city, where she had performed hours before. She expected to be a great actress and transmit diverse feeling with only one look. But that was the hopes of a million girls, so... what could make her special? She asked herself that question, while her feet moved across the pavement automatically.

Suddenly, she realized just a few lights illuminate the entire place. It seemed strange, but she had never taken that way home because she had recently discovered it. The street was alone only with some apparently closed stores and a big brick wall which covered her side. Behind the wall, an old building was rising and tiny lights illuminated its closed windows. She stopped for a second to admire the beauty, forgetting her fear. Then the window made a really scary sound but it was only the wind passing through, or that's what it looked like. Unexpectedly, she began to see a silhouette through the window and she stared confused. It looked like a man moving from one side of the room to the other, but in a moment it stopped and grew larger as if approaching the window. She thought she saw fingers coming out between the slats of the shutter and felt watched. In that moment a chill ran down her neck. Maybe, it was the natural sense of danger predicting her fate.

She moved quickly from the brick building, pretending not to have seen or felt anything. But her thoughts revived her panic in circles, in such vivid way that when she got trembling home. To calm down, she took a hot shower, played her favorite bossa nova song and stops overthink the scene. Nothing was happened really, just a shadow in the window and the fingers... they must be the product of her mind. Then she went to bed, exhausted and began to dream. She was jumping into clouds until a big hand grabbed her tiny body, suffocating her. She could not breathe and heard a laugh in the background. Suddenly opened her eyes and noted that something indeed was pressing her throat.
