Sitting under a leaf canopy, an unusual sight catches your attention. There’s black smoke pluming against the horizon.

Panic ripples through the island, mothers swaddle children and vanish into the trees, dogs, their tails tucked in terror, follow suit. You look to Tres, seated on his throne of very-sharp-n-pointy-stab-stab sticks, but despite striking the perfectly godly pose, he simply shrugs, not able to make out the frantic babbling of the beautiful island girls trying to tug him away.

It’s only as the breeze carries the sound, the roar of Oddy and his failed rockers, you realise the meaning of the smoke signal.

A disjointed screech slowly transcends, the jarring sets of chords combining into an ethereal a melody like none before.

The natives still present in the small gathering of huts, look past you, their faces drooping with relaxation, swaying in time to the terrible sound.

Following their collective gaze, you see the water, the waves seething around an army of ships, each crammed with ageing rockers. Poorly fitting leopard print, patches of leather and metal spikes, cram the boats.

As they get closer, the music screaming through the air starts to pull at you. It feels like slipping into your musical trance, but your hands aren’t playing. It’s attempting to pull you under its spell.

You slam your palms against your ears, yelling over the sound before you notice your band, already doing the same.

Instruments bared, you battle against the force of the sound, attempting to reach the beach before the incoming horde disembark.

As you grow closer, you feel the music pounding in your heart beat, echoing through your blood, slowing your limbs as you try to resist.

Mid-step, you tug your leg, unable to move. Entirely paralysed by the hypnosis of the music, you see Oddy climbing down from the lead ship, his flag raised to claim the island.

At the very edge of your vision, you make out Tres, forcing his drum sticks into his ears. In slow motion, weighed by the power of the music, he simultaneously forces the tips into his ears. His face drops white, but Tres utters not a single sound, as the blood begins to drip from his ears.
Suddenly, he’s free. Tres dives across the beach, slamming his still bloodied drum stick into Oddy’s temple. For a moment, Oddy drools, lobotomised, before Tres gives the implement another shove, finishing the job.

You watch, still entranced by the music, grateful for the reinforced drum sticks you had shipped in for Tres’s birthday.

Oddy hits the sand in a silencing mic drop. The washed up rockers, not wanting to literally live up to that title, rapidly about face, turning their ships away from your archipelago.

The natives pour from the trees, finally freed from the threat of Oddy, they surround Tres, cheering, yet, the blood still trickling from his ears, Tres hears not a single jubilation.

His status as a god is truly confirmed that day. Given the level of worship you now all receive, and the lack of a way to leave, you and the Tortillas de Pelo decide to live out your days on the islands. You spend it drinking grog, loving the ladies, and making amazing music.

  • Your adventure ends here.
