Hey everyone. It has been three months since I last ran this contest. I always knew I would run it again but am just wondering about the timing and if now is in fact the right time to do so based on the fact the Steem price is still rather low?
I enjoyed this contest everyone who participated did especially for the winners, this was corroborated by the top comments on @arcange for the day just about every time we ran it, My Problem was it was not sustainable, it was not paying for itself, the intention for this contest was naturally for everyone to have fun myself inculded but at the very least for it to pay for itself and as it grew increase the prize money. Participation and comments grew but not the contest payout which resulted in me having to stop it to build up some Prize capital.
For those of you not familiar with the contest check the below link it was rather epic even if I may say so myself.
I plan to run it again but need to know who all is keen on participating again, the rules will be the same with one amendment and that will be that the contest post as an qualifying entry will need to be upvoted, I feel that this is where I fell short last time gave away tons of money and the profits were, well they weren't it was a dead loss, also on the last contest we had a 'cheater' which left a really sour taste in my mouth which resulted in me temporarily throwing in the proverbial towel, but I am over that now and am looking at a re-run???

All of you who have previously played and everyone still keen to try out the future contest please do comment below so that I may get a better idea as to what my best course of action shall be. haha... Seriously though, unless you find someone to sponsor it, I wouldn't run it out of your own pocket - the odds of the contest funding itself are very skraal.

I didn't know there was a cheater. That sucks and how do you cheat on a contest like that?
I think it is entirely up to you. Making a vote mandatory is against the "rules" in the white papers but everyone does it anyways (bots weren't supposed to be on here either LOL).
Here is what I am thinking. You probably get a lot of people with dust votes to participate - that means no money for you.
And it will be a lot of extra work to double check that everyone who commented also voted and didn't just leave you a dust vote. Someone with a lot of voting power is not going to leave a 100% vote, so you can't stipulate that. At the same time, you don't want a bunch of 1% votes that don't count.
I think if you are having fun doing it and basically are willing to give up the money for the prize - go for it. Otherwise, I wouldn't.
From my experience, contests hardly ever are profitable for the person putting them on...
Hey my Friends nice seeing you again, valid points thank you. Well as for the upvote option lets face it the biggest whales here ask of upvotes in contests so against the white paper or not everyone does it, it is free will to participate on those general rules/guidelines or not. I am sure that the few 'reward pool rapists' currently here (we all know who they are) also contravened the white paper and still do, here I am giving back they certainly are not. Naturally I cant enforce upvotes but if anything it helps paying the prizes with a little more cash than the last run? For the sake of fun comments interaction and a bit of a different angle here and against my better judgement maybe I will try again ;) As for the cheater one clown running two accounts commenting after himself and as you know in that contest pulled off right can be a clean sweep for prizes. But we are smarter than him and put an end to that pronto ;)
