Operation Mass Adoption CONTEST - Only 10 days left!

One of the biggest hurdles in the blockchain and crypto space is onboarding, and of course the ultimate goal of how to acquire the coveted mass adoption.

The consensus is that to obtain this we need a combination of educational material, that is fun and easy to watch, an easy way to make accounts, a one stop shop to find all of this and of course a community to share it through word of mouth.

Luckily for us, the amazing folks at @steemonboarding have been working on just that.

@Steemonboarding is a project founded by @anomadsoul and @coruscate to deliver an easy way to onboard the masses through their site at http://steemonboarding.com/. You will find short and fun videos in multiple languages directed at educating new users and helping them get started on Steem.

Mass adoption starts with us

Crypto is a word of mouth game. It's about planting an idea with those in our day to day lives that then starts them down the rabbit hole. To me Steem has always been the way for crypto newbs to safely explore the crypto and blockchain world, in a fun way. They can explore, learn and play while actually earning for their contributions. It's the most user friendly crypto experience for normies, but we have to tell them about it first.

Contest Time!

For that reason I was super excited to see the Operation Mass Adoption Contest by @steemonboarding and love that they are actually rewarding us for onboarding all those people in our lives.

Sign people up, win some prizes. Pretty easy, right?

Who Can Join This Contest?

Anyone on the Steem Blockchain with a reputation higher than 57 and who created their account before March 2019. Any user joining the contest must be an active member of any Steem community older than one month

This kind of contests may attract people trying to rig them, that is why we are this strict in terms of Who can join.

See the original contest announcement for more information.

The Rules

  • The new Steemians invited, must create an account within the time limit of the contest. It doesn't matter what Account creation service they use.

  • Every user you invite has to make a post introducing themselves before the end of the contest. On this introduction post they have to mention your username and why they joined Steem, otherwise said sign-up will not count for winning the contest. For this intro post, they must use the tag "newonsteem".

Need help explaining what the heck an introduction post is to them? @steemonboarding has you covered:

  • @OCD will be curating the tag "new-on-steem". So please make sure these new Steemians you invited use the tag for their introduction post! Anyone using this tag for anything other than their introduction post WILL BE FLAGGED, so please avoid using the tag if you are not a new user who joined Steem via this contest.

  • Every Steemian who joined the contest, must make a post listing all the members they onboarded and linking to their introduction post so we can verify the authenticity of both the competitor and the New Steemians. The timeline for making this post is from June 13th at 00:01 PST to June 14th at 23:59 PST. The tag you should use for this post must be "HelloMassAdoption" and "blocktradescontest"

Now go read those again so you don't get disqualified.. don't worry, I'll wait. :)

The Dealine (Only 10 days left!)

This contest started on Wednesday, May the 22th at 00:01 PST, and ends on Wednesday, June the 12th at 23:59 PST.

Any account created outside of this timeline will not count for determining the winners. THEY HAVE TO POST THEIR INTRODUCTION POST BEFORE THE DEADLINE.

The Prizes - Two ways to win!

On the beginning of this post we mentioned that any user joining this contest has to be part of a community. (See THIS POST for more information)

  • The community that gets more people to sign up on Steem, regardless of the winners of the Liquid prize, will get a 10,000 SP delegation from @yabapmatt and a 1,000 SP delegation @OCD for the next 90 days.

More Perks Added

Remember that the new users have to make an introduction post using the tag "newonsteem" so they can find, curate and count those users for determining the winners.

So, onboard your friends using any of the account creation options .. send them to @steemonboarding to walk them through the process, they make a post, you make a post.. and win some prizes.

Seems like a win-win to me!

Thank you to @steemonboarding (@anomadsoul and @coruscate), @ocd (@acidyo), @yabapmatt, @blocktrades, @theycallmedan, @oracle-d, @cervantes and everyone else working together on this contest to help take Steem mainstream. You guys are rockstars <3

Let's go onboard the masses folks!

Much Love and Steem On,

Justine

Nice contest but I'm only with 55 reputation. It's a shame.
Good luck everyone.

Keep killing it @justineh all this hard work has a light at the end of the tunnel moment down the line. I like what the steemonboarding folks are doing and its much needed.

Awe thanks Q! ❤️ 🤗

But I did literally nothing with this one 😜 just trying to help get the word out! As I agree, Steem onboarding is an awesome project and I’m so happy to see someone trying to take on this hurdle.

Thanks for being you ❤️

Sure, but the answer is simple and doesn’t fit into the your narrative, so you won’t like it.

RCs are calculated based on the SP held. Powering down reduces that number greatly (which the account just did) mixed with over extending voting sucks it dry quickly.

I can see on steemd this information. A query could be run to see if there was possibly delegation the account normally held that was pulled as well, which could very easily drop RCs from a normal range to the number you see now.

As an example, and why I know this, is I was delegating my stake from my llfarms account to this one. I decided I would rather just have the llfarms account follow the votes of this account instead. So I pulled the delegation. Which made this account go from and 80% RC level to 10% I believe and I had to wait for it to charge up again. Same thing happened when I delegated out as well.. as it’s tied to the SP held in the account. Large changes in that will drop the RC significantly.

But what I see is an account that instead of using the 70 allocated 100% votes per week used 3 times that amount mixed with a power down that immediately drops the RC led to it being drained. It’s that simple and will charge back up.

No one can manipulate the code, I’m sorry.. it’s just not how it works.

This exact thing has happened to me by moving my whole stake around through delegations to my other account. It’s not a unique occurrence, it’s just mismanagement of RCs by not taking these things into effect.

Hope that helps.

'no one can manipulate the code' except devs . ok that make sense

Not even the devs, it would take 17 of the top 20 witnesses to make a code change and accept it, and believe me the rest would know.

There is front end code which CAN be changed and blockchain code which requires a full hard fork. Just fyi, the RCs are managed from the blockchain and would be nearly impossible to impact and would require development time to just impact a couple of people as well as an entire hardfork.

Just so you know.. :) You can include that when you notify the FBI or whatever.

can you tell us who is behind bernie's account ?

No, I can't. But I don't really feel the need to know.

Oh come on.. I can’t tell you who is behind your account or whatsups either.. because it doesn’t matter 🙂

No, that’s not how it works. For a code to be changed on the chain it has to be released and 17 of the top 20 witnesses have to implement it. This change would be able to be seen as well, it’s not hidden. My point is no one is going to go and change the damn chain to make kawaiicrush account need to recharge RCs.

The account powered down, which dropped the RCs significantly and then they over extended their voting. It really is that simple.

Tell them to power back up and they will see instantly go back up if you need proof. Or just wait for it to recharge, just like everyone else does.

yeah , nothing can be changed accept removing accounts , hiding comments and ............................................ everything else

Front end things can be changed. You can think of it as Displaying information. The backend code requires a hardfork.

And this is why people don’t respond to you, and why I should stop trying.

Removing @animalcontrol comments from being visible on the Steemit.com interface is not the same as CHANGING THE CODE OF THE CHAIN.

My comment above was about Steemit.com a front end.. it one way how someone can view the information from the chain and as you can see, the comments from that account can still be seen on partiko and other front ends who have not removed it.

There is an open github where everyone can see who is on that specific list (removed from the Steemit.com front end) and anyone can submit a pr to add an account for review.

It’s sort of similar to how your friend lyndsay worked with steempeak to make it where anyone an account had muted would not show up on their blog. As in, the spam comments she was receiving were no longer visible on her posts when using that front end. Why no complaints about that? It’s actually sort of a nice feature, no? Or is it only beneficial when it’s people you like?

So please, please at least acknowledge you are unaware of how things work before you start accusing people of things.

As what happens on the front end and what happens on the blockchain are different, I’m not sure how many times I have to say that.. and it’s not like you even have to take my word for it, go look. 🤷🏻‍♀️

No one is trying to silence the kawaiicrush account, most just ignore it as it was used for inappropriate behavior and now has been transferred to new ownership and is solely used to somehow “expose” things that are so absurd that it’s just sad.

There is some shady shit that happens here, but it’s all available to see on chain.. and it’s not the conspiracy you all make it out to be. It’s really not that interesting at all to be honest, sorry.

Now, you asked a question and I tried to answer it the best I could. I’m not sure what else I can say to you.

Adoption Contest is a better name I think 😉
Could Steem handle real mass adoption right now?
2-3 thousands or 10 thousands accounts a day?
I think it can't... That must be improved before a bigger mainstream promotion.
But the contest itself is for sure a very good thing.
Straight as always 😉
Have a nice day

Honestly? I don’t think any blockchain could handle mass adoption right now. It’s an ongoing process. Mass adoption starts within a community and grows outwards. The platform grows, learns and adapts along with it.

This is all very much an experiment, and slow and steady is the way to mass adoption, not over night hype. As we want it to become the norm, not just the most recent fad which will be forgotten quickly. That takes time.

This place needs a lot of work, but it also is a pretty amazing place as is. We grow together 🙂

Thanks!

It might not be able to handle this, but we have to start somewhere. We've improved on options of people signing up to accounts and what have you.
