Fox Tales: Announcing the winners for WK#27!!

in #contest6 years ago (edited)

Hello everyone!

Sorry for the delay in this announcement post. I took a short break from Steemit to deal with a few personal matters in my life. I’ll write more about that later. For now I’d like to try to get myself back to my regular posting schedule.

I don’t have a new image for the next Fox Tales because I’m about to launch a spinoff series!!! Hooray!!! Creating a spinoff series motivated me to pick up this contest again and I cannot express my excitement! I wish I could reveal more but I want it to be a surprise. I also thought I’d have the images (Spoiler! There are multiple images!!) done but I made changes along the way so I’m about 75% there.

I’m making a separate post with a big reveal soon, hopefully by the new week. Then I can explain certain elements in detail so that the format for this series can be understood fully and I can answer any questions that may come up. I can guarantee you all that it will be loads of fun!

WEEK #27 WINNERS & STORIES!

1st place // @theironfelix “Femme Fatale”

Perusing the city nights, she wondered which posh lad will be the next one she struck. Even if she'd screw'd up, a fellow illegalist was always a corner away to give aid in any way. Playing with her steps, she got giddy with a rare sight she'd been counting on - the man was Boss Tweed, the most conniving lard in New York. She slipped the pilfered items from the last posh lad she struck to a group of urchins and began purtying her looks as she stepped towards Boss Tweed. Boss Tweed took notice of the Femme Fatale and was curious of her approach, but thinking none of it since he was focused on how to gerrymander New York to his advantage. She slid close, but not danger-close, to him and ordered a glass for herself which allowed him to play some moves on her to counter. He talked about how she had the looks for secretary biz and how she can benefit with his connections, sometimes slipping out talks of his high political crimes in a romantic twist. After a few minutes, a different bartender came in and recognized her - to which she signaled the bartender to ready a bludgeon for ole Boss Tweed. After lulling Boss Tweed, she began steering him to the backroom, playing on his slips-of-the-tongues towards him and had Boss Tweed knocked unconscious right after - she began pilfering his body for any valuables while discussing his recent developments to her comrades. To which the illegalists readied Boss Tweed for ransom and allowed her again to peruse the city nights again, to add more to her rising streak and help fund the real activities that'll shake up society. Something were the poor of all creeds and stripes won’t live in crime but joy.

2nd place // @pyemoney “My Better Half - Part 2”

On a blistering cold winter's evening, I arrived at The Metropolitan Opera House two hours early, longing to anonymously catch a glimpse of Jenna. The lights were dimmed and a spotlight was shining center stage. There she stood with her deep-seated and seductive eyes piercing the souls of the audience she held captive with her melodious soprano voice. A colorful painted face shaped the strong character that defined the iniquity of her stage persona. She now called herself Carmelita and had dyed her hair a snow white color. I had secretly followed her career from the day she left me. The theater was packed with on-lookers dressed in formal attire who had all paid a sizable ticket price to see her perform Wicked Love. The drama tells the story of a woman who finds pleasure in casting spells over her love interest. “I hear this is her last performance,” the lady seated on my left whispered. “Oh yeah?” “Yes, rumor has it that she has actually met someone who has her spellbound.” My heart stopped. I felt sick. The music continued, reaching a climactic feverish pitch. Jenna started to sing her final song of the evening. "You belong to me, look into my eyes, and follow your heart’s desire. Oh oooh, I am your wicked lover,” was the refrain she repeated. Jenna bowed to a standing ovation and chants of “Encore, encore,” erupted. There was a curtain call, then she stepped forward and spoke. “Over the past three years, you have known me as Carmelita, but my real name is Jenna Collins. Tonight is my last operatic performance. After much soul-searching, I have come to realize that my heart’s desire is with Evan, my devoted husband. He is my better half and I am wickedly in love with him.”

3rd place // @iamthegray“The Last Letter”

Dear Martha, I wonder if you still feel the same way about me; although I admit I have always been about me. Remember that night we walked on and on? The night before the world fell in love with my song. You told me if I ever felt like I was alone, I shouldn’t hesitate to call home. I wonder if that offer still stands, if you’re still waiting with open hands. I wanted to talk to you before the magazines got to you. But every time I try, I can’t always reach you. All of my new friends are fake and don’t last, I guess it’s why I’m reaching back to my past. I always felt amazing when I was in the crowd and when I’m alone the silence becomes too loud. I wonder if I should start another paragraph, but I did attached a photograph. I’ve never been good with writing and I’m scared I might say the wrong thing. The picture isn’t complete and you know it. I pushed you away and I regret it. The picture is for you, before the magazines get to you. You’ll read a lot of nasty things about me, things I don’t want you to imagine when you think about me. I have a lot of bruises so I used a lot of make-up, a far cry from the girl you knew when we broke up. I just want to know I always loved you; I swear, even God knows those words are true. I’ve lost everyone I know but you. Please forgive me so I’ll find peace in the other world Jenny

Thanks so much to all the writers who participated!

Congratulations to the winners! And good luck to the next participants give the best of you

congrats to all winners :D and very excited to see what foxi will come up with in the future contests !!! :D

It’s gonna be awesome!!

Congratulations everybody. Thank you @vermillionfox. I appreciate the opportunity to participate. Just a note: Part of the first line in my story that you posted was picked up from another story.

It’s from the story you wrote last week, right?

This line below was not a part of my story:

I was five when I first saw it happen. Bef

Everything else is okay. My story starts with:

On a blistering cold ...

Ohh! Let me fix that for you! I must’ve accidentally pasted something in when i was tinkering with the code!

I hope my placement in the list doesn't denote anything about the quality of my writing. :P My story wasn't really anything great. I didn't think it would win. It was mostly just a sort of silent commentary on the complexities of humanity.

Congratulations to the winners.

I'm glad you're doing alright, and are actually starting a new series! That has to be exciting! I was a bit worried that you were a bit late.

Not at all! I used to put everyone in alphabetical order but that seemed like more trouble than it’s worth so the list is random.

The new series will be a lot of fun! So sorry for the late post, I’ve been behind and will definitely post updates on the future! :)

You're denying it! First sign that it's true! :P XD

Lol, then from now on to eliminate confusion I’ll put everyone in alphabetical order again!

Instead you should put them in order of the mass of their protons squared.

Instead you should put
Them in order of the mass
Of their protons squared.

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

I’ll have to delegate that task. XD

I'm not sure if I'll have time to do a story post, I might, we'll see :) But, I am resteeming this AND I just told @winstonalden to do it. :) Also, I love this character's face, she is coy and powerful looking.

You should! I don’t have a new story image up just yet. This is last weeks image but I’m sure you’ll love the new ones that I’m working on! They’re brilliant and different from my usual work!

Hello @vermillionfox, thank you for sharing this creative work! We just stopped by to say that you've been upvoted by the @creativecrypto magazine. The Creative Crypto is all about art on the blockchain and learning from creatives like you. Looking forward to crossing paths again soon. Steem on!
