The Deadpost Initiative - Week 42 - Share your most undervalued work ($15 SBD rewards last week)

in #contest6 years ago

What is the Deadpost Intitiative?

The Deadpost Initiative is an attempt to give love to some posts that were overlooked during their short 7 day life span, a chance to bring your old posts back to life and maybe make some friends in the process. The goal is not only to share some love with SBD but also by engagement to generate discussion.

Last week

Nice posts as usual but not great engagement this week! I am also totally delirious after 48 hours without sleep, a plane ride and walking around the city for a day, so I hope everything I write makes sense. I will be back to my normal self after a good nights sleep and hopefully so will the engagement.

Last Week's Winners

@themadgoat - $5 SBD prize

This was the wackiest post about potatoes I have ever seen. It may have been the only post about potatoes I have ever seen but I am sure when I see others they won't be as wacky as this. Great post @themadgoat

Comedy Open Mic Entry #2, Round 27: Fun Facts About Potatoes: Slavery, The Potato King, and the guano Wars.

@fjmb86 is just not capable of losing the Deadpost Initiative, it's post after post of good deadness. A bit about language, writing and reading.

More about reading and writing

@faiyazmahmud - $3 SBD prize

@faiyazmahmud shares with us some tips to avoid being hacked. If this is not a useful skill in the land of cryptocurrency, I don't know what is.

Last week seemed to disappear in a Hard Fog....

Here’s my entry for this week. It’s a piece I wrote after exploring the etymology of the word ‘doctor’ in Chinese.

At some point in ancient times, they changed the character, and I think it shows the changes in how healers operated.

Have a read and let me know what you think. 😊🙏🏽☯️

Indeed last week did seem to disappear in a Hard Fog.
Another in-depth and great piece, the Development of the character wu over time was very interesting, is it just me but early on the character seem to be hands trying to grasp something above.

And the double body is pretty universal in all of shamanism, Toltec speaks of the dream body, but there is something into traveling into the invisible landscape, learning the forgotten language of dreams, that brings back eternal, deep nature truths.

Yeah I noticed that about the hands too. I wondered about that, and am planning to look further into it. The explanation of it as two people dancing is plausible, however I wonder if an earlier form wasn’t showing people with hands up as part of their dance, especially if they’re reaching out to Heaven.

Etymology can teach us so much. I always thought a shaman and doctor surely meant different things. It is amazing what we can find after research. I learnt a little more of the chinese culture from your post. It seems you have a deep understanding of the chinese characters.

Hi all and thanks @whatamidoing, I'm loving this initiative!

Here's my entry: Well Off the Beaten Path (Episode One) - Restoration of Saat Tale Royal Palace - Nuwakot, Nepal

This is waaaay off the beaten track travel. Not many Nepalis make it to the Nuwakot Palace these days, let alone tourists. Heavily damaged after the 2015 earthquake, it's fascinating to witness the restoration work being done by local artisans, often by hand, using century old techniques.

awesome photos and very interesting and informative read, cheers!

It surprised me that they support the wall with the wooden poles in the way you described and showed on the photos. Great initiative with reconstruction done by the local artists. And you also shocked me with the information that costs of renting a car are approximately around 100$. It is possible to rent a cheaper car in France ;)
After this article I checked your blog and I found to enjoy your great post about Street Art In Bangkok. You shared some pretty cool photos there

Hi @whatamidoing san, I havn't been around much and I think I missed a couple of contest in between. Here is my entry to the contest.

Be Bad-Ass - Episode 2 : Getting help is not a sign of weakness...

Great post - I think asking for help is one of life's great lessons. Hard to do sometimes, but helps the independent mentality shift to a interdependence mentality which is more in line with how I believe we're meant to live life.

Exactly my point, But I hate to say that many will not accept or will not even ask even in a dire situation. I was one such fool. But thank god I got my sense back and now I am in a much better position in life. :-)

Thank You for your time

No one is above help. It is better we let go of pride and share our problems with those around us. That is what they are there for. You hit the nail on the head with your 'truths'.

I am glad that you really liked it. And it is true that many put their pride or shall I say a false sense of pride in front of getting help and getting over the problem. And because of this stupidity, they suffer when they could have used some help and live a better life like it meant to be.

Thank you for your time :-)

Hi @whatamidoing, hope you feel better now.

This one is from way long ago. My third post ever on steemit and about 7 months old.
Here it is
https://steemit.com/life/@cheekah/chivalry-for-men-alone
I would be back to check the posts of others.

Congrats to last week's winners.

Chivalry is not dead, and never has been. I don’t believe men are afraid to be chivalrous, I think men who don’t know how to be chivalrous are afraid to try to be it. It’s all about presence and intention.

Hey,
I am considering myself as a modern person with believes in equity of all genders, without praising any as a special one, but I must admit that I really like your list of rules and habbits, especially this one

Walking on the outer side of the sidewalk or road. This is to protect her from vehicles, splashes of muddy water and other irritations.

It reminds me my old date. Or even few :)

Hahaha, I never remember the chivalry to be a gender-based characteristic. In my dictionary, it is being a gentleman / a lady and respecting others. :-)

Great to see that you are keeping your engagement with the dead post initiative for months now. Congrats to the winners and also to the ones making the prizes possible through their upvotes!
I found for this week also a dead post of mine that I hope to see it featured on your next pos.

Thanks and have fun on the blockchain!

Of course they have feelings. They’re mammals and sentient beings. Lovely post. I’ve been away for three weeks and our cat came and said hi as soon as I walked in.... 😉

The beasts belong in the jungle and that is the end of the story, We humans were never supposed to interfere in their business. But being humans we did interfere in the law of jungle and now ended up with people who egos are unsatisfied and need a beast to fulfil them.

awesome, this week am gonna share an old dead poem
Please Humor Me For A Moment
it's in the pit of our being
actually, it's what ties all being
to every other being and nothingness
and everything else in between

Love your work, bro. Actually a bit of a different side to you, I thought 😉

thanks, Yeah sometimes you just got to scream into the abyss.
but really digging your work as well my new friend =D

I love the artwork as well, how did you create it?

thanks, they are digital collages, so I cut-up images and then wait and see what connects I make, words, music, or other images can spark the connect, then paste and smash them together, in this case it was the poem that sparked the smashing together of the cut-ups.

Big ole' thank you for the prize! Even more than that, thank you for giving people the opportunity to showcase work that didn't get enough attention the first time around. This is a wonderful thing you are doing for people. That was one of my favorite blogs, so it means a lot that it was given a second chance.

First of all I would like to congratulate for the @whatamidoing for this awesome idea. I am sure that plenty of us felt undervalue at least once and wish to reach wider audience. The Deadpost Initiative is a great solution for our expectations.

Secondly I would like to congratulate for all the participants, for sharing your work and keeping it all alive :)

Thirdly I would like to share with you one of my recent posts, 8th episode of RAVING FOXES, an exclusive Steemit series about the most important names in techno. In this episode we focused on bio of the French producer Umwelt
https://steemit.com/technofriday/@cubapl/raving-foxes-008-or-umwelt

I hope you will enjoy it.
Peace And Love

Its my first time learning about Umwelt. I like his description of how he came about the name 'Umwelt'. He really has accomplished a lot. I like his style.

Hi all!

This is my new entry: THE BOOKS HAVE THE WORD

Writing has shaped the world and the culture in which we live. He has increased the number of chronicles, poems, fables, and has extended as a miracle the space of its duration.

I upvoted your post.

Keep steeming for a better tomorrow.
