To Catch A Leprechaun

in #crafts5 years ago (edited)

Today I share with you, a very secret... Top Secret creation...

In the beginning

Actually, I will let you in on a little secret... when your granddaughter comes home and says she has to complete a "school project", you jump to the occasion right? Doesn't matter you find out after the fact, that it wasn't really a school project; we love our grandkids and think "anything" not involving a game system is Awesome! So...without further ado...

The Coolest Leprechaun Trap... Ever

It all starts with a plan

You've got to get gold to catch a Leprechaun right? So we had a small planter we were going to use for seeds but came quite in handy! We added plastic wrap over the top when we were done adding our "gold" colored paper in various sizes...(that kept the gold from falling out)... Pot 'O Gold

The Creation Begins

We had bought a little craft kit that was on sale during the holidays; our plans were to create little fairy houses and put them up outside in a specific area (that might be a future post), but thanks to the help of Uncle Zach (AKA: @stealthunicorn) this Leprechaun was sure to have a trap fit for a ....well, Leprechaun...

Magic paint
Chloe Painting.jpg

Our granddaughter Chloe insisted that the paint had to be magic (which began her various 'make the paint magic' rituals)... this way we not only created beautiful artwork on the side but also a force that kept the Leprechaun trapped...

Let's Build Those Walls!!

After taking a quick snack break, Chloe and Uncle Zach went full force in completing the walls for the trap. We didn't put a roof on, because when the trap had served its purpose, it would be used for various things like...

  • LOL Dolls
  • My Little Ponies
  • Shopkins

Above the walls you can see custom types of furniture such as a table, chair, and bed; if the Leprechaun decided to stay, he had to be comfortable!

And At Last Its Done

I remember doing this kind of stuff when I was younger; didn't have an Xbox or 256 channels to vegetate on. You went outside, you worked on cool projects, you used your... imagination Hope you enjoyed this little tidbit I conjured up. It's always a pleasure to have the grandkids down for a visit, and the smile on Chloe's face when she was done, made it all worth it. I will keep you all informed, and let you know if that Leprechaun showed up, got trapped, or more than likely...had tea with the neighbor dolls...

Hah! That is really awesome. Now you just need a rainbow to put the trap by and you will be all set. That looks like a super fun little project you guys did there!

Hehe! That is some Leprechaun! Just in time for St. Patrick's Day! I am not in favor of all the games for kids. I say let their imagination be free.

Great post! I hope she gets one!

Thank you my friend. Some games I suppose are ok... it's just when they become the "babysitter"....

But things like this get everyone involved; old school like eating together at the table...

Appreciate your reply!

We still eat at the table. :) Together. We wait until everyone is here to serve. Isn't that normal?

I refused to have babysitters like that. Call me strange. They learned to ice skate, rollerblade, rake our leave, shovel the older people next door in the winter... There are way better things to learn than that, but, I am not opposed to anyone else doing it, just wasn't for me.

We still have a game night. Tuesday night. Sometimes another but that one works. Everyone loves it and the kid's friends make excuses to stop by and play. It's fun. And I Love it.

Manners, respect, initiative; so many of these things are becoming a "black art"...

I agree with you...we all do here
But then....we are old and crazy!!

Hehehe! FIne by me!! Crazy is good!! ;)

This is sooooo great ! Lollypop sticks I need to buy them.

We've even just grabbed sticks, and used them! Nature is full of free stuff!

That is with all crafts inthis time with computers i make a habit of it to do craft twice a week with the boys.
Keeps them artistic too

Great sweet craft @wesphilbin.
I understand that you just learned to make gifs!! ..or got a gif made of yourself, but I would suggest you to keep the self-promotional part of the post a bit smaller...and let your work speak for you...

Just a suggestion...that way, you can leave a stronger impact on the reader...
Great job!...and a great gif!! Ha-ha!

Thanks

Great!

Thank you, my friend! Every day is an adventure!

Thank you my friend for the reply. I go back and forth between laptop and android. So sometimes the images look different depending on the device. Still not sure of a "permanent" signature per say. I do however understand what you are trying to say, and always appreciate constructive criticism!!

What a cool leprechaun trap it sure ot catch one,
I like you grew up before Xbox and PlayStation and playing was going outdoors and actually experiencing the real wold not some virtual one, TIme shave changed for many of the kids these days

Oh yes...

I don't think for the better either... everything in moderation I suppose; I still love to play on my console when I can. But I am also 48 lol... this "technology age" to me, is both good and bad. All comes down to managment I think...

I actually work in the Technology area, so its good and bad for me, I do have a PS4 which I play on occasionally more so over winter when I am not out and about as much taking photos, and I am 59 so I have seen such changes from a phone in the house normally being on a party line to phones these days that have more compiuting powert than NASA had when they did the moon flights

LOL... NASA phones indeed! I remember a Commodore Vic20 computer with a dataset... then an Atari. And a party line! Good Lord do I remember those! The neighbor up the road had an old wall mount phone... three fast clicks, and two slow clicks were Santas line!! You could talk to him, and plead if you had been good (or bad)...

Kids these days have no idea my friend...

OHh yes I saw a funny video the other days where given a rotary dial phone and told to make a call, that had no idea at all how to dial onit, it really cracked me up watching it. I to had both of those types of terminals, and also remember early dial up at I think 100 or 300 Baud rate, which is like .3Kb I think, that would also blow the mind of todays kids how you could do nothing with that speed

AOL!!

I did an online college with dial-up... in the beginning; I was hoping to get a good head start on class. No way I could... security protocol timed out my request before I could even get it turned in haha...

Good times...

Here you go @tattoodjay
Relive Those Memories!

LOOL thats a memory I do not need to relive lOL

Let us know if you catch one. :)

Will do! Right now, its all about the LOL Dolls and Shopkins. Though Chloe also loves to draw out her various fashion lines... complete with shoes, purse and matching umbrella :) Told her mother she could be the next Vera Wang...
