Lightning Beach | a moody GIF I created from a digital illustration painted in Procreate app on the iPad Pro
First, I painted the scene using a wet acrylic digital brush in Procreate on my iPad Pro, and exported it to Adobe Photoshop.
Then, I added some white layers on top in various levels of opacity to prepare the lightning streak effect. I exported each layer as a separate jpeg file.
Then, I loaded all of the files into one document using File > Scripts > Load Files into Stack, then opened my Timeline view and created a frame animation, loading all the layers into the timeline. I set various times for each frame and tested it until I was happy with the effect.
Lastly, I exported it as a GIF file, to post here for you to enjoy.
If I wasn't so tired, I would have loved to have mixed and added a sound atmosphere to it, and uploaded to YouTube, but I need to get to bed because of my lovely 4 month old baby steals enough of my sleep at the moment! Maybe I'll get to it later!

I’d mix an ambient soundscape so it sounded like the scene — waves crashing, thunder rumbling, wind blowing, etc. I’m inspired to get to it now!
