The Diagnosis is Dire, the Prognosis is good (Actually Great)

From Everipedia:

Prognosis (Greek: πρόγνωσις "fore-knowing, foreseeing") is a medical term for predicting the likelihood of a person's survival. When applied to large statistical populations, prognostic estimates can be very accurate: for example the statement "45% of patients with severe septic shock will die within 28 days" can be made with some confidence, because previous research found that this proportion of patients died. This statistical information does not apply to the prognosis for each individual patient: additional information is needed to determine whether a patient belongs to the 45% who will die, or to the 55% who survive.

Diagnosis is the identification of the nature and cause of a certain phenomenon. Diagnosis is used in many different disciplines with variations in the use of logic, analytics, and experience to determine "cause and effect". In systems engineering and computer science, it is typically used to determine the causes of symptoms, mitigations, and solutions.

First the Diagnosis

Since diagnosis Is the identification of the nature of a disease which a person is suffering from...we can all see it is the disease of debt, credit and the corruption in both. Our financial system (which is our political system), is in dire... no fatal state, how long it will last is not certain, but it is not long.

Now the Prognosis

As a Prognosis is an opinion, which is based on doctor’s experience on what can be the cause of a disease... in our case that we will be fine and healthy in the long term, as we are on a diet of Cytpos now.

Great differentiation about Diagnosis and Prognosis. Nice content @kyusho. I appreciate your work.

Thanks for sharing this post.

Have a wonderful day!

are you a Greek? (or you have Greek roots?)

Yes, 2nd generation in the US.

haha we are everywhere! :P

So interessing , thanks for sharing @kyusho:)

I know investopedia and I read articles from it. Everipedia is a collection of different topics from all fields of science and technology, business etc. But I haven't looked into it before.

From the discussion I agree that prognosis should be done earlier, before the occurance of a event rather than diagnosis which is done after occurance of the event. But as you said we cannot predict prognosis properly because we will not have any perivoius data to carry out statistical study.

But we have many other statical tools like likehood functions poison theorems to predict the occurance of certain event in advance. We cannot predict exactly but these tools are pretty good and 80% accurate.
