Masternodes are giving a subset of users who are choosing to be highly vested in the project rewards for operating infrastructure and the option to have a say in part of the fund deployment. It's empowerment. Overall governance of Swarm continues to be with SWM hodlers. #AskSwarm

I have to say that @MakerDAO 's $DAI and its system has held up like a champ in the face of volatile, punishing market action. Cool to see that that hard work and that building something that no one had ever dreamed of before both works and is paying off.

A week since the @ICE_Markets announced creation of #Bakkt (https://goo.gl/nbQnkB ) and after conversations, it seems it is not entirely clear what differentiates #Bakkt **Call-out to Justin Saslaw of Raptor Group has been really helpful here. Some insights:
http://ir.theice.com/press/press-releases/all-categories/2018/08-03-2018-133022149

#Bakkt is offering 1-day futures contracts of physically delivered #BTC. A contract buyer receives #BTC next day. Buying Bitcoin via Bakkt similar existing exchanges like @coinbase @binance But ICE/Bakkt has several advantages…

ICE already has existing and approved trading relationships with banks like @jpmorgan and brokers @Fidelity @CharlesSchwab etc and means that this is a natural pathway for traditional retail investors to access Bitcoin via their brokers. ICE is owner of @NYSE

ICE is the counterparty to the trade (just as @coinbase and @binance are counterparties if u use them). ICE has tremendous financial resources with revs $6 billion (financials https://goo.gl/ruWgWD ) and $85 billion in assets. As a custodian/counterparty, money good.

Bakkt is doing 1-day settled futures and not spot, because this entity is under the purview of the @CFTC (and #cryptodad @giancarloCFTC) and if it was spot, it would be @NewYork_SEC (not positive but I believe this is the case).

Great article @MrShawnTully @FortuneMagazine (https://goo.gl/99aYzP ) Best quote Jeff Sprecher, CEO @ICE_Markets "“Millennials don’t trust traditional financial institutions. To gain their banks, brokerages...can use a currency that millennials believe in, like Bitcoin.”

Ultimate advice #Bitcoin $BTC $Crypto $ETH 1. Those who make the most do not scalp 1H charts; they ride the trend 2. You need to be a die hard bear during a bear market and a die hard bull during a bull market 3. Fighting against the trend is the quickest way to bury yourself

ETH ($356 USD) has a 36.08B market cap with 2.1B in volume where as EOS($5.59 USD) has 5.06B with 884M in volume. To me, these two chains are in a very similar vertical (dApp ecosystem or economy), and are nearly direct competitors at the moment. Personally I prefer ETH in the long run, but I could definitely see EOS surpassing ETH in market cap this year. If this ETH killer scenario were to play out, what would be more likely to happen? 1. ETH drops by the same amount EOS increases. 2. EOS rises past ETH while ETH remains fairly steady. 3. They both grow, but EOS at a greater rate of velocity.

      Harsh Patel
Both of them don't justify the market cap in billions. Eth is technically just suppose to be a utility token for the transactions of projects based on those blockchains. eths main value should be derived from transaction fees and smart contract execution. And with the next planned updates to reduce the cost/fees by almost 90% doesn't that indirectly mean people would need 90% less eths compared to today for transaction fees. ETH & EOS are just platforms, they are never going to be used as storing value like BTC.

      Joe Blackburn
If EOS gets going and devs start using it I will agree. But ETH offers so much value right now, it’s the most used token on the planet. It’s only getting more engrained. First mover will maintain and eventually overcome BTC in market cap imo.

      Marius Hilarious
The big difference between them is that EOS is extremely centralized, permissioned and non-trustless while Ethereum isn't. These are the 3 worst characteristics of a blockchain to have.

Jason Cohen
I am intrigued by Holochain. Seems to be getting a fair amount of buzz lately. I am trying to limit the number of platforms I own but HOT has me interested. They are clearly working with Mozilla. That appears to be fact based on several joint presentations and meetups at Mozilla offices. Some projects starting to use HOT. Might be one for you to take a look at if you want to stay in the alt game.

      Randy Hilarski
I had a shitload 25 Million tokens but got tired of Hodling and sold 24 million for other projects. I will sit on the 1 million like an egg. This and Guld.io are projects that I believe could have a huge impact. The issue for me is that they are both largely philosophy driven. Once things actually start being built it will be epic.

      Tim Pace
Holo is a interesting coin. The way they achieve consensus is not through conventional consensus mechanisms. It uses a method called Hashgraph. This coin is intriguing. I might have to grab some

When I was first exposed to Bitcoin I thought it was a fraud and a Ponzi scheme. It just doesn't make any sense that a bunch of guys are mining this magic internet money and now we're going to say it has a value? It just seemed ridiculous to me and then I saw Bitcoin crash. It went from $7 to $1,200 and then crashed to $200 and I thought that was the end of Bitcoin. Then something really interesting happened. You see when something's fraudulent or is a bubble; when it crashes it goes to zero. Roberto Maeda went to zero, Bernie Madoff went to zero, Enron went to zero because it doesn't have any value. I looked at Bitcoin and it was still worth about 3 Billion dollars and I knew I was missing something.

After some research, I finally understood the power of Bitcoin and the blockchain. I realized that this was a way that people who didn't know each other, like each other, or trust each other could transact in a trustless way and that we could own value that nobody else had any claim over. This is not the way the world works right now and it doesn't matter how wealthy you are, if you own real estate, stocks, bonds or gold. If the government wants to take your money there's really nothing you can do about it and that’s the beauty of cryptocurrency.

The last time something like this happened was during the mid-90s. Individuals were making enormous amounts of money buying companies like Dell, AOL, Microsoft, Netscape and some of these smaller internet stocks and the institutions had completely missed that bull market. During 1994 to 1995 we had a bit of a bear market and institutions were out saying that “Oh anybody buying Internet stocks, you're idiotic” and so you had a lot of people selling their AOL, selling their Microsoft, selling their Dell shares. Guess who was buying, it was the institution's.

If you look at a chart of institutional allocation to venture capital internet deals it doubled between 1994 to 1995, which was exactly when institutions were saying “oh this is just a market for idiots, nobody should be buying this stuff”. You can go back and look at old CNBC clubs during 2003, even as the market was starting to come up you would see “Oh don't buy tech stocks, everyone knows they're evil”. If you look at the 10ks, the Q's and all of the quarterly filings, institutions were all loading up on tech stocks. They literally stole all this wealth that should have been in the hands of individuals that own Dell, Microsoft and AOL. Then of course from 1995 to 2000 we saw 5 Trillion dollars coming to the market in the biggest bull market we've ever seen. This blueprint of creating fear in order to get cheap prices isn't nothing new

Don’t listen to what people are saying, look at what they’re doing
September 12th - Jamie Dimon says Bitcoin is a fraud and that he'll fire anyone of his traders buying Bitcoin. After that, Bitcoin proceeds to drop 24%. That weekend the largest buyer of a Bitcoin fund in Europe was Morgan Stanley and JPMorgan.

January 24th - George Soros calls Bitcoin a bubble and that it’s the worst investment in the world. After that, Bitcoin proceeds to drop 44%. Fast forward to April and we learned that his 26-Billion-Dollar family office has approval to buy cryptocurrency.

February 7th - Goldman Sachs says that most cryptocurrencies will crash to ZERO. Bitcoin proceeds to drop 27%. Then we find just before May that he buys a cryptocurrency trading platform for 400 Million Dollars. They went from it’s going to zero to 400 Million Dollars

Christine Lagarde of IMF says that all central banks should band together against cryptocurrency. Have you ever heard her say that all banks should band together against illegal arms, illegal drugs, or human trafficking? No, but they must all band together against crypto.

Larry Fink says “You know what cryptocurrency and bitcoins are good for? Money laundering and drug dealers” Now they're going to launch an ETF.

You've got to look at this preponderance of evidence. These people are already wealthy and all they care about is their reputation. If Bitcoin is such a trashy asset why are all these people getting involved? it's difficult for people to visualize a world different from the one that they are currently in. People couldn't understand how smartphones would transform the world as it they did.

Follow the Money
Stephen Cohen who's worth between 12 to 14 Billion and is by far the smartest hedge fund manager in the world is buying Bitcoin.

Marc Lasry of Avenue Capital Group is worth about 1.7 Billion has put 1% of his net worth into Bitcoin at around $7,500.
Andrew Horowitz - an early investor in Airbnb, Skype, Facebook, and Coinbase launched a 300 Million Dollar fund.
Wellington Capital, who have a Trillion dollars in assets, are getting involved in Bitcoin futures.

Susquehanna - The 12th largest trading firm by volume now have their own Bitcoin custody Department, their own trading Department and they're trading Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Goldman Sachs - The new CEO David Solomon, who is coming into power shortly, is the most pro Bitcoin/cryptocurrency guy on Wall Street.

Chicago Board of Options Exchange (CBOE)
Since 2014, people have been trying to do these ETF’s. I knew it was never going to happen, there's no way the SEC is going to approve it. The Winklevoss twins have been trying since 2014. There's no way the SEC is going to trust, in their eyes, a couple of kids with a Bitcoin ETF. They don't understand it, they don't trust them, they don't know them, they're not Wall Street guys, and they don't think that they have the ability to protect the assets and or the end-users. They want to make sure that this doesn't become a giant disaster because they’ll lose their jobs right

Then you the Chicago Board of Options Exchange, one of the most trusted and most important financial institutions in the United States. It's up there with Swift, it's up there with the NYSC, it's up there with the Nasdaq. They do more derivatives trading than anywhere else and are the largest options trading in the world. They came in and they said we will provide insurance for this ETF, which is huge! If it gets hacked, if there's fraud, if somebody loses the key or anything happens that could potentially impact the value or security of the cryptocurrency held there then they have insurance to cover it. So now it's the big boys at the table, it's the adults. The CBOE and the SEC, they speak the same language, they all know each other, they all go to the same places.

The fact that the CBOE has put their stamp of approval means that this ETF is going to get approved unequivocally. The earliest it could happen is August 16th, the latest it can happen is Q1, 2019. I don't think it's going to happen August 16th (CONFIRMED 8/8/18). It will happen closer to the end of this year and as people start realizing that this is actually going to happen, the price of Bitcoin will go up significantly.

DISCLAIMER: This post was from Teeka Tiwari in this YouTube Video. I took bits and parts of this interview that resonated with me the most and tried to convey them in an easy to read text.

Tim Hirschmann
This is a pretty general question but are there some legitimate reasons for alt coin holders to be optomistic right now? I have zero bitcoin and, not including recent airdrops, stakes in around 24 alt coins. Half are in the CMC top 20 but all in the top 100. I signed up with Binance at a bad time but have managed to accumulate more recently at bargain basement prices doubling down on past expensive purchases with a plan to cash out if these alts ever reach their all time high again. Should I be optomistic that this will likely happen and is there anything to back this up?

      Joel Padron
I wouldn't expect all time highs for alts until like 2020. You'll need the crypto market to be on a prolonged bull market. We currently are still in a bear market so don't get too risky

      Josh Allen
It’s all still speculation. I don’t think we will see all time highs until most of them die and the others left have proven use cases. Until then, it seems they will likely bleed out a slow death with the exception of a bitcoin ETF rally that would likely be somewhat short lived. Just my two satoshis

      Jesse Croucier
Hi tim, I would suggest you diversify your portfolio a little more. In my opinion you should have 50% of your portfolio in btc, to hedge against your alts. You're playing a dangerous game right now, goodluck.

Keep up the outstanding work. It's been such a pleasure to work with Dash Hub Africa and watch them continue to grow and set the bar. We are happy to help and will continue to support your project even when the treasury doesn't have the space in its budget. We have planned for this downturn and are still only gearing up for the things we have in the pipeline for our next fiscal year.

It was very enjoyable to be able to pay for these goods from Canada and have it directly benefit the users on the ground. It humbles me to think all the rice that will be cooked and people fed from this donation of 100,000 shillings worth of Dash.

Cost of running Dapps on EOS is prohibitive?
by siliconviking

Source: https://medium.com/@bytemaster/proposal-for-eos-resource-renting-rent-distribution-9afe8fb3883a

"Under heavy congestion (sustained load over 10%), the staking algorithm of EOS would give about 100 microseconds per day of guaranteed CPU time per 1 EOS staked. A trader wanting to transact once per minute (where each transaction requires 1ms) would require stake of about 15,000 EOS (or about $100,000 dollars as of August 2018). Many traders lack that much capital and few would want to expose it to volatility risks just to trade."

Larimer's article then goes on to outline how developers can rent EOS at 5% per year instead.

Given the volatility and uncertainty of holding EOS, I think EOS holders are unlikely to be satisfied with renting out their tokens for a measly 5% return, however. I think 15%-20% is more likely, but for argument's sake, let's assume it's 10%.

This means that the cost per year for renting enough EOS to run a Dapp that can handle 1 transaction per minute would be $10,000 (i.e. $100k * 10%).

Now, this article (https://medium.com/@cryptolabb/eos-1-000-000-transactions-per-second-6e55cd83a81b) states that Facebook is processing 54,800 likes per second, or 3.2 million transactions per minute.

New Resource: EOS Node Tools
by blockmatrixnetwork

As we have continued to gain a deeper understanding of the EOS network, we have created a microsite to host useful resources and tools for users interacting with the EOS project: https://eosnode.tools

We have lots of content planned for this microsite, but after speaking to many dApp developers at recent conferences around the globe we have decided to focus on 2 specific tasks:

  1. Automating an EOS API node setup
It can be overwhelming to understand whats involved to set up an EOS node, so we have created a guide thats uses ansible to set up an API with 2 playbook commands.
The idea behind this, is that any budding EOS dApp developer will eventually need to run their own API nodes to ensure that their custom smart contract actions are indexed from launch. By automating the setup of a node, they can just focus on developing the dApp, knowing the creation of an API node is taken care of.

ID Pass Won The First EOS Hackathon in June - What Do You All Think About Their Project?
by Shibascent

Can this work as a decentralized means of ID?

      spar3part
I surely hope so, decentralized ID is a huge use case for crypto platforms but it's also a delicate subject as you're giving your ID to the public ledger and if those hashes ever get decrypted in the future your privacy is compromised. I think it's the similar as if you use a privacy feature of Monero to hide taxes of pay for fishy stuff, you might get into trouble in the future.

Why isn't Dai on centralized instant exchanges?
by PolarOne

Most DEXes embraced Dai and that's great. But I've never seen it on any instant exchanges - that is, those which support multiple blockchains (=centralized). Shapeshift, Morphtoken, Changenow, etc. Some of them list such obscure coins that it makes you cringe, while ignoring one of the greatest innovations in crypto (trustless stablecoin).

The same goes for crypto payment processors' coin choices. It's quite amazing that you can pay an invoice with Numeraire and Civic, but not Dai.

      giltotherescue
Not sure about exchanges, but Request Network supports payment with DAI. We are rolling it into our product at https://gilded.finance. Once REQ’s cross-currency features are active, a customer will be able to pay in ETH and you’ll be able to receive DAI in exchange. I believe they will use Kyber to do the swap.

Augur soon to use Dai
by ethHead15

Joey of augur blogged today about using dai in upcoming versions of augur to eliminate the volatility risk underlying ether. This would be the first large scale dapp to use dai. I’m excited.
https://medium.com/@joeykrug/fees-fees-and-fees-8939c2b5ecae

      EtherOrNot
Very happy to see this. The sooner people start using decentralized stable coins the better. Remember, if you were considering going to Tether during this bear market, take a look at DAI instead. Trustless is better.

      bitdoggy
DAI is less ready for adoption than Augur. The devs cannot decide what happens if the demand quadruples over a few weeks.

I want to scale docker containers horizontally based on demand user request using swarm?
by scopdrag

I want to scale docker containers horizontally based on demand user request using swarm. If a user comes to, scale some new pods and allocate a container to that particular user. if there is no traffic it should scale down back to a minimum defined threshold.

Use case:
We have a service running inside a docker container which is directly accessible to a user.
Each user will be given separate container, So we need to create docker container whenever user requests for service, Also we need to delete containers when they're idle for a specific time period. Multiple users can not access a single container.

Accumulate Alts right now?
by HolyPolyTo

The BTC dominance is around 50% and the most Alts are nearly at prebubble prices - the whole november/december hype seems to be gone. I just grabbed some of my favourite altcoins to double my holdings in it - despite I know we have to see a btc bull run first for lambo, moon and so on

I don't believe we will see a BTC dominance around 60% ever again. This would mean that nearly all hope in the massive amount of good altcoins is gone. What do you think? Is it idiotic to accumulate Alts right now?

      Live_Magnetic_Air
It's when things look the worst that it's the best time to buy. As long as the project is solid.

      ThatTribeCalledQuest
I'm not touching alts at the moment for a few reasons
We don't know how much longer the bear market will last, and even if BTC keeps moving sideways, alts will likely continue to bleed

if the ETF isn't approved, then BTC will dip, causing alts to dip even further, and the bear market is extended
if ETF is approved, and bitcoin moons, then alts will dip again as everyone will want to ride the BTC pump. And this likely won't be a normal pump, where alt season follows in a few months, it'll be a massive rise in price, and alts won't be able to compete

no clear signs of trend reversal, so you could still be catching a falling knife
this is a new market, most alts have networks that aren't even being used, and most of their price is speculation. There isn't really anything holding up a lot of their current value

Aragon DAC, a new community effort to foster Aragon’s development led by Giveth
Kris Decoodt

The Aragon Foundation and Giveth are proud to announce the launch of Aragon DAC, a Decentralized Altruistic Community on the Giveth platform that will work on building out core Aragon infrastructure from the end user’s perspective.

Decentralizing Aragon the Giveth Way
You might know by now that Aragon is decentralizing its development: the first step was the introduction of Aragon One, the next step was announcing the onboarding of more teams to work on core infrastructure, in the near future. Well, the future is today!

The second team that will be working on the Aragon stack is a community focused effort led by the Giveth community: the Aragon DAC will kick off with two specific projects or ‘Campaigns’: one focusing purely on development, the other on experimentation with the Aragon stack. Experienced members of Giveth and Aragon One will help kickstart the Aragon DAC initiatives on a voluntary and part-time basis, with the clear goal of steering the DAC towards full independence.

This is a continuous process, students should become teachers and teachers should remain students.
Today we are excited to introduce Bootcamp — our new learning portal for EOS.
Check it out www.eosbootcamp.com
You can take lessons on the basics. We will have three tracks of courses: beginner, App developer, and Block Producer. And, we want you to help teach for us!

EOSNodeOne Infrastructure
EOS Node One

EOSNodeOne operates a world class, scalable, and secure infrastructure consisting of cloud components and bare metal producer servers.

Our cloud servers (API nodes and Seed nodes) have a minimum of 192GB RAM and our Producer nodes have a minimum of 256GB RAM.

Our servers are secured in their own private subnets and have no public IP addresses. We have also implemented a wide variety of network security best practices including use of bastion hosts, disabling all non-essential demons, using custom ports for application services, dropping all non-essential network traffic at the boundary, prohibiting password-based logins and securing access via certificates, using a SOP for handling critical access credentials, etc.

EOS the Global Leader in Cryptocurrency Bug Bounties in 2018
Condelite

As the adoption and popularity continue to grow exponentially, there is a consistent rise in cyber attacks as well.
The usual approach from companies and security researchers is to stay vigilant by regularly patching any security loopholes that they might find. In case of a breach, the companies quickly inform the users and ask them to change passwords until they fix the issue.

An increasing number of startup companies are taking the third route towards this problem. These companies are launching programs to invite hackers for helping discover vulnerabilities in their software. Provided with an incentive, the hackers are coming forward to fix these problems. Based on the results, this strategy is working.

Ethereum ERC725 — What is it?
Blockverge

In the world of blockchain technology, decentralized apps are one highly promising prospect. They have the potential to completely oust third-party operating platforms that work on a centralized concept. There has been one consistent problem when it comes to blockchain technology-based platforms. User identity management is a crucial aspect for decentralized apps. As things work right now, third parties have to be entrusted to manage user identity. That is the problem that ECR725 identity will resolve.

Fabian Vogelsteller came up with the ECR725 identity standard. He is the creator of the ECR20 token which sees comprehensive use in the blockchain landscape. The ECR725 identity standard was created last year, on the 2nd of October. Since then, it has seen adoption by numerous blockchain based projects. They have incorporated the ECR725 in a bid to decentralize the identity standards in the peer-to-peer marketplaces.
