Which Coins/Tokens look good?

What should you be buying for short-term gains?

...and I've finally beaten a rather nasty bout of flu. Turned out it was a lot worse than I thought it would be. Now if life would please just leave me alone for a while, it would really be great to get back to normal! Maybe after my wife recovers from her flu (which I gave her - sorry honey).

A little bit has happened since I have last been away. Fundamentally the coins seem stronger than ever - I'll look at a few of the best ones later in this post. Of course months of good news continues to go unnoticed by a market that consists almost entirely out of investors who are waiting for one another to make the first move! But as I have been saying for those many months: we have seen the bottom, when this market does move, make sure you are a part of it!

Having said that, be careful: I am expecting an imminent drop in the market. Volume has dropped significantly and the price should follow, literally any minute now. With my luck it will plunge while I am typing this post.

About two weeks ago I published a post about which tokens and coins were looking good for a buy that week. The post "What looks GOOD?" was missed by most people, probably because I made the mistake of using a picture of food and a food sounding title. Oh well, you live and you learn. This post is a follow up to that one. I want to see which of those coins did do well (and by extension, which did not, i.e. I got them wrong) and I also want to look at the coins I think are good buys right now.

Which Coins/Tokens look good?

Methodology:

The methodology is the same as last time: These are short-term buys, but may be good for longer term holds too. It depends on how closely you watch them.

The method that I am using to determine what the good buys are is my "Sparkline Analysis" method, as described in more detail in this post: https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@bitbrain/cryptos-to-buy-in-bad-times-a-spark-in-the-dark. I have tried to keep any favouritism out of it (for a change) and have been as unbiased and as objective as possible.

Sparklines only deal with a week's worth of data at a time, but you can build up a longer mental picture if a coin attracts your attention and you remember it's recent previous performance, or if you follow the coin regularly (i.e. you spot a trend). I'll show you what I mean as I work through them.

I don't work with all the coins, that would be impossible, so I am sticking to some rather limiting factors and working to my own rules as follows:

Firstly: the coins or tokens must be on CMC. That's where I read the sparklines.

Secondly: They must appear in the Top 100. Sure, many lower market cap coins may be worth the buy, but the top ones are the most important ones and are also generally the safer buys. So these suggestions are not for the highly experienced (who probably have their own methods), or for those looking for high ROI low market cap deals.

Thirdly: In addition to the point above I am also including low market cap coins which appear in my own CMC "Watchlist" (if you don't use this CMC feature then you really should try it). These are all coins that I hold and thus look at every day anyway. Many of them are low or very low market cap coins.

So what I did for this post is to take all the coins that meet the above mentioned criteria and currently look ripe for potential investment and compile them into this post. Remember: these are only my suggestions and they are based only on a fast sparkline analysis and a quick check of a longer scale CMC chart. In some cases I have been following individual coins more closely, but regardless of that: DYOR if you want to buy!

Coins and Tokens (previous)

Let's look at the coins I recommended last time. I won't show charts for each (you know how to use CMC) if they happen to be boring.

XRP

I hope you took that recommendation, because that one could have made you about a 65% profit within a day!

xrp.png
From coinmarketcap.com

Is it still worth buying now? Nope.

XLM

I hope you took that recommendation, because that one could have made you about a 33% profit within three days! I'm on a roll...

xlm.png
From coinmarketcap.com

Is it still worth buying now? Another "Nope".

ADA

An ROI of about 15% within three days. I'm three for three now. Time for something to go wrong...

ada.png
From coinmarketcap.com

Is it still worth buying now? I wouldn't.

XVG

Roughly 15% in just over a week. Not too bad. Why did I not buy all these coins myself? (So far I hold none on the ones I mentioned!)

xvg.png
From coinmarketcap.com

Is it still worth buying now? Hard to say: It is still climbing, but volume has dropped off, so a drop may be near.

LINK

It made 5% within hours, but then abruptly dropped and has not recovered yet. It would have lost you about 9%.

link.png
From coinmarketcap.com

Is it still worth buying now? No.

AOA

This one dropped almost immediately after I posted, about a 15% loss. Oops. It is recovering now.

aoa.png
From coinmarketcap.com

Is it still worth buying now? It's a 50/50 buy, wouldn't be one of my first choices.

ARK

Could have made you a healthy 10% within a day, but has since dropped back to exactly the same level.

ark.png
From coinmarketcap.com

Is it still worth buying now? No, looks like it's going to drop.

CMT

Had you bought then (20 September) and sold yesterday, you could have made 25% on this one!

cmt.png
From coinmarketcap.com

Is it still worth buying now? Yes, it still looks strong.

WAX

No real gain or loss. Very volatile so it continues to hover between "small profit" and "small loss".

wax.png
From coinmarketcap.com

Is it still worth buying now? It's lost the upwards momentum and is now moving sideways - so that would be a "no".

DRGN

8% profit 2 days later, but down since then.

drgn.png
From coinmarketcap.com

Is it still worth buying now? No. It's also going sideways now.

STEEM

Would have made over 20% had you sold the spike soon after, but is still in the green and climbing, albeit slightly slower.

steem.png
From coinmarketcap.com

Is it still worth buying now? Yes, but not as much as before.

PAY

As I said back then, TenX has done very well lately, but the price had just spiked and I suggested that you wait for a dip.

Screenshot_1.png
From coinmarketcap.com

Is it still worth buying now? I think so, but the volume has fallen away, so once again, wait for the dip. I think price will drop a lot more soon. Not really a short-term buy then.

DNT

Spiked about 5% shortly after I published, but has been flat since then. No real profit or loss.

dnt.png
From coinmarketcap.com

Is it still worth buying now? No, it's just going sideways.

IFT

It hasn't moved. How boring.

Is it still worth buying now? No.

EVX

This underrated, slow and steady climber is still doing a great job. It's up about 15% since the last post and still climbing.

evx.png
From coinmarketcap.com

Is it still worth buying now? Oh hell yeah!

REQ

Did well and made about 15% within 5 days during a spike, then climbed slowly back to that level, where it has remained for the last few days.

req.png
From coinmarketcap.com

Is it still worth buying now? Not right now. But keep an eye on it.

UTK

Now this coin is going places. UTK continues to impress. It did very well, climbing steadily from about 500 sats when I last wrote to 588 sats now, that's 17.5%. It's still climbing very strongly and steadily and the volume is climbing just as strongly and steadily. I'm very bullish on UTK for the medium-term!

From coinmarketcap.com

Is it still worth buying now? Yes yes yes! Yes.

Coins and Tokens - new additions

To encourage DYOR, I'm not giving graphs, go check them on CMC and draw your own conclusions.

Coins that look good today, but are not included above:

Top 100

TRX

BNB - this coin is going to do amazingly well soon! Hold it short-term, hold it medium-term, hold it long-term, just hold it! If you are buying anything right now, it should be Binance Coin!

MKR

DGD - but wait for a price drop.

DGTX

ELA

NEXO

From the Bit Brain "Non-top 100" collection:

TKY - very impressive these last few weeks! Looking incredibly strong!

UTK - Oh I already mentioned it above? Well I'm mentioning it again! It looks that good!

APH - 10 seconds of Googling should tell you why this is a good buy right now!

LOCI - after an inexplicalbly bad period, LOCI is finally looking positive. Looks like it wants to break out upwards.

Final words:

I have been pushing Vice Internet Token (VIT) the last few weeks due to the great ROI. I must say that ROI has greatly dropped over the last few days. I don't know why, there is still no published indication of exactly how the reward system works yet, but it's not nearly as attractive as it used to be. Perhaps the platform needs to grow more (which it will thanks to some great partnerships, most recently with a well known site called Tube8 - that collaboration should be in place before the end of the year).

Good luck with all your investments, hope you are well positioned for the bull run...

Yours in crypto,
Bit Brain

Great summary! Although I have also used CMC in the past, I was recently introduced to @coingecko whom just entered the Steem community and is participating in our ecosystem. As a fan of our community, I would encourage you to give them a looked as they have chosen #STEEM to get feedback on their site which I have been impressed by to say the least. Give then a look for sure!

I have been using coingecko since before I used CMC! they are very good and I like their rating system, though I will admit that I use CMC far more, as it is the de facto market standard. Glad to hear they are on STEEM now, I did not know that. I'll go check their blog. Thanks.

XRP Is it still worth buying now? Nope.

Ha ha, definitely agree with that at the moment. I was watching the spoke that day, but I was too chicken to take more than a little bit of profit near the top and then buy back in on the way down. These were tokens that I have held for a long time now, and they weren't for messing around on exchange!

I'll be honest, I hate XRP, and more specifically, everything that it stands for. It should be banned from the crypto world! But I would be stupid to deny the massive gains some people have made with it, and that opportunity does continue to exist. But right now, as I said, it's not looking good for a short-term buy. In fact I would say that it's looking very poor for at least the next few months, perhaps longer.

Yes, I'm not that idealistic! I still think that there is room and perhaps necessity for more centralised blockchains especially if that is what the established system is more comfortable with. Eos and Steem and all the doos systems aren't so far off that model either....

That is true. I think a semi-centralised system is not necessarily bad. It's like a monarchy: when you have a good king or queen, it works splendidly, but when someone bad takes charge, then everyone suffers. As long as the more centralised systems have good "rulers" they should be fine. I don't think XRP has that, but at the same time I really love NEO which is (for now at least), still highly centralised.

But in the long-term I believe that the only guarantee of success is through decentralisation, at least for major currency and platform coins, and perhaps a few other sectors too (where trust is an issue).

I don't know so much about the financial side of things, I suspect that fiat backed (government, bank or corporation) stable coins might end up winning, unless btc or something else gains an huge dominance in use, and I would argue that the lead that it has isn't enough yet...

From the side technology use, I see a much greater chance for decentralisation, things like autonomous vehicles and stuff like that would definitely benefit from the increase in resilience and security.

Ooh no, I've got to disagree with that! Problems with fiat are the primary reason that crypto will succeed! I reference the comments I left on the "0.28 BTC to become part of the New 1%'-ers" post a few days back, specifically those old posts I linked to.

We'll see... I hope you are right!

I upvoted your post.

Best regards,
@Council

Posted using https://Steeming.com condenser site.

If anyone dares to make them!

Great analysis and breakdown on some of the potential good buys on the market.

Well you mentioned that you always CMC.. But what do you think of @coingecko? Personally i use CoinGecko.com since i get a lot more information there (i favor fundamentals over technicals) on top of having a better looking page design IMO.

Plus they recently invested a good chunk of Steem Power into their steem account so they've already won my heart as a Steem fanboy.

Wow, two coingecko comments in two days! That's good, I'm a fan of coingecko. See what I said here a day ago: https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@newageinv/re-bitbrain-which-coins-tokens-look-good-20181006t223540061z

Endor token is a good one

Hmmm, definitely not looking good in the short-term though.

Thank you, I've never looked at it. I'll check it out.
