IBM And Maersk Launches TradeLens

Two industry giants is said to have launched a global blockchain-enabled shipping solution that is said to disrupt the shipping supply chain.

The platform involves 94 organizations and about 154 million shipping events already captured.

TradeLens is global supply chain platform which has a data set that is growing at a rate of one million shipping events per day.

It can track critical data about each shipment in real time, generating an immutable and distributed record instantaneously.

TradLens is now being used in 20 port and terminal operators around the globe as well as international customs authorities, freight forwarders, logistics firm’s and cargo owners.

It was revealed that it can reduce the transit time of a shipment of packaging materials to a production line in the united states by 40% which equates to thousands and dollars of savings.

It reveals that the commercial product of the platform will be available by the end of this year.

50% Americans Willing To Try Out Bitcoin According To New Survey

A survey by an analytics Firm, Harris Insights and a new cryptocurrency company Gem has recently revealed that 50 percent of American respondents are inclined to try out cryptocurrencies.

It also shows that those who belong to the lower income budget is more interested to buy into Bitcoin.

The survey reveals that 8% of all those who were interviewed for the survey already have invested in the more popular cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin.

Interestingly those with lower net worth invest in cryptocurrency more than of those with higher net worth.

In addition it seems that the younger generation is keen on investing in this new asset class and has the propensity to move away from traditional financial institutions.

Facebook Interest In Blockchain Gaining Traction

David Marcus has recently announced that he is removing himself from Coinbase’s board of directors.

He is currently with the Facebook blockchain research team and cited this very reason to do so.

This is in order to avoid conflict of interest as Facebook continues into the realm of blockchain technology.

Marcus reveals that he is setting up a new group that will delve with blockchain technology for facebook.

It is still very early to speculate on what is up the blockchain gurus' sleeves, however everyone can agree that there is something big stirring in Facebook’s Research and Development department.

Marcus’ departure from Coinbase indicates growing momentum or interest in Facebook for the nascent technology.

It seems that in certain parts of the world, Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general is priced higher than the rest of the world.

There are many factors that can be attributed to this phenomenon.

Take for example the situation in Brazil where bitcoin is at premium of about $300 USD across many exchanges.

There could be a number of reasons why this is happening but it always points to on primary economic law of Supply and Demand.

Increase of adoption locally or regionally may be the primary reason that have increase the demand for Bitcoin and thus increasing its price.

Bitmain Eyeing $18 Billion IPO

The world’s biggest manufacturer of cryptocurrency mining equipment is said to be eyeing an $18 billion IPO, at an estimated total market capitalization of about $40-$50 billion, which is potentially the biggest the world has ever seen.

With this IPO the crypto mining equipment manufacturer plans to diversify its product offering by aiming to be a dominant manufacturer of the hardware for artificial intelligence technology.

It was revealed that China International Capital Corporation, a leading investment management firm, will be underwriting Bitmain’s fundraising plan and listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange which is set on the last quarter of 2018 or in the early part of the first quarter or 2019.
