🗞 Why the SEC Should Give Amnesty to Illegal ICOs

With an estimated $4 billion or more raised in investment capital, 2017 was a boom year for initial coin offerings (ICOs). But it was accompanied by another kind of boom: the sound of a crashing regulatory framework.

Then, in July 2017, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission issued The DAO Report, which, by employing the U.S. Supreme Court's long-established Howey test, concluded that certain digital tokens sold to investors were "investment contracts" under the Securities Act of 1933 and therefore subject to SEC registration.

Without recriminations of government diffidence and regulatory defiance, the SEC and ICO participants must work together to find a reasonable market fix. Any solution should have two essential components:

(1) a vehicle for integrating a new asset class into the established supervisory structure; and
(2) a mechanism for protecting, to the extent possible, the value of substantial yet legally flawed investments.

Topping Out? Bitcoin Bulls Need to Defend $9K

Having hit seven-day lows below $9,000 this morning, bitcoin (BTC) is looking decidedly weak.

The cryptocurrency fell to $8,980 on Bitfinex a few hours ago and was last seen changing hands at $9,080 - down 1.13 percent from the previous day's close (as per UTC) of $9,184.

🗞 Facebook Forms Exploratory Blockchain Team Led By Coinbase Board Member

David Marcus, the head of Facebook’s messaging app Messenger, announced that the social media site is exploring possible applications for blockchain technology, CNBC reported May 8.

“I'm setting up a small group to explore how to best leverage blockchain across Facebook, starting from scratch,” Marcus shared in a post Tuesday afternoon on his personal page.

We are still not able to go back higher than our resistance line at 3.65$ but this objective is still not yet invalidated.

The steem is currently creating a pattern in W that I drawn you in green. This kind of pattern is bullish and it could help us to go break that resistance line and go back between our 2 lines. Let's see what will give the coming hours. If that objective is invalidated, we should have a drop to go test the support line around 3.30$.
