Ethereum Price Predictions: Five Ether Price Predictions For 2018
Ethereum has made remarkable gains in recent times. The cryptocurrency jumped 1.45% on Monday and reached a market capitalization of 70.7 billion USD. It is currently trading at 710.94 USD. Although this is a far cry from Ether's all-time high in January, experts predict the digital currency to make huge jumps this year.
1. 2,500 USD by Year End
According to the founder and CEO of DeVere Group, Nigel Green, Ethereum's price will likely increase significantly this year. He says it could hit 2,500 USD by this year-end. Green also has predicted further improve going into 2019 and 2020. According to him, this boost will be the result of more platforms using Ether to trade, cloud computing decentralization and the increased use of smart contracts.
2. Overthrow Bitcoin This Year
According to Roger Ver, in an interview with the Independent, Ethereum could overthrow Bitcoin this year. The investor cited that the change is very close and that Bitcoin Cash will overtake Bitcoin in 2020. Ver said “flippening” is likely to happen. Ethereum’s price only needs to double more to surpass BTC’s market cap.”
3. 1,500 USD This Year
Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit gave a more conservative prediction in an interview with Fortune, after predicting that Ethereum would hit 1,500 USD by this year-end. Ohanian believes by CryptoKitties which portray Ether's potential will ginger the growth.
4. Sci-Fi Will Push Ether Past Bitcoin
Polychain Capital's CEO, Olaf Carlson-Wee, made a bold prediction regarding Ethereum. Speaking to Bloomberg, Carlson-Wee claimed that “the kind of things we are seeing built on the Ethereum platform is nearly a bit sci-fi." He reiterated his claim in May 2017 to the end of 2018, holding to his predictions that Ethereum would surpass Bitcoin.
5. Triple in Value in 2018
Steven Nerayoff, Ethereum’s co-creator said at the beginning of 2018 that the digital currency's value could triple in market cap. According to him, because businesses have started to see the potential for Ethereum’s uses, suggests an upcoming boom in multiple industries. Its quick transaction processing time is a huge benefit.
