Erhai or Er Lake is quite literally translated as the "Ear shape sea" and by deduction, you should be able to gather that the lake when viewed from above is in the shape of an ear. I don't have the liberties to take a picture to show you but it's an interesting fact to know just in case you were wondering.

In the more ancient times before more advanced ordinance techniques were developed, it was known as Kunming lake.
