André Leon Marie Nicolas Rieu was born back in 1949 in the small town of Maastricht (the Netherlands) in a family of musicians. From early childhood, the boy became interested in instrumental music, and after school began to study the violin, studying with talented teachers: Hermann Krebbers and Andre Gertler.

After graduating from The Brussels Conservatory, the young man played in the Limburg Symphony orchestra under his father. Later he created his salon orchestra, which consisted of only a few artists, and began performing in local nursing homes, performing Viennese waltzes. And by the age of 37 andré is already leading the famous Johann Strauss orchestra.

This man is not only a titled violinist, but also a talented conductor and a real showman. Listen to how he runs a huge team. This is Dmitry Shostakovich's waltz no 2 From the Suite for pop orchestra, which many in the West call "Russian waltz".

Remembering his life, the Maestro said that he loved music since the cradle. He always liked to watch his father lead a Symphony orchestra. Even then the boy was impressed by the magical sounds produced by various musical instruments. During those first concerts he noticed that the audience was very serious and thoughtful, no one laughed and tried not to cough :-)

It was at his concerts that Rieu learned to communicate with the audience, ask questions, and genuinely amuse the audience. Music for this man has become the source of the greatest joy and inspiration that he is ready to share.

I really like his famous waltz "Blue Danube" by composer Johann Strauss. The recording was made in the castle of Empress Sisi (schönbrunn Palace, Vienna, Austria) with the participation of the best dancers from the famous Austrian school Elmayer.
