3rd place Memories by @zaimrofiqi
Zaim Rofiqi’s poem, previously published in a collection The Love Songs of the Sinner(Alvabe, 2009) , plays with metaphors for life and death, and leaves us with a charming and endearing scene to ponder over. The short poem is beautiful, simple, consisting of a short monologue to an unnamed listener - the ideas touch the ears and heart, from the smartly-selected title, to the dry twigs, the parakeets making love, and the reverberation in the recurring line which keeps calling to mind the short and delicate nature of life.
not so long ago, you murmured, flowers bloomed on them
spreading fragrant around you
2nd place The Last Meeting by @nationall
This beautifully written romantic poem strikes the reader immediately with it’s innocent perspective. Intimate, emotional, gentle, yet dripping with fears of the unknown, tensions from insecurity and excitement about what lies ahead. A candid and accurate capture of the feelings we all know too well. Do you agree? This is the second poem written since the weekend by @nationall, claiming a most well-deserved special highlight here.
I sat in front of him
The guitar
Tears of the past
And broadcast the fears of tomorrow.
1st place Emerging (1) by @acousticsteveo
Stephen Martin brings us reminiscence of youth. Written in free narrative verse. in the four poems, Emerging 1~4, a veil is slowly lifted, exposing key moments and how the speaker recalls experiencing them. like a walk along the path of growing awareness, these poems fall into a unique category of poetry that lead one to questions, the answers to which one uncovers from the edge of one's seat. The relative maturity evident from the narrator hints at some kind of resolution, but the lines don’t give it all away too soon. We’ll just have to continue reading. Here’s a quote from Emerging 3 ...
I tried on your head bands &
slept naked with your Barbie dolls.
I learned to have secrets.

And now, about that extra string of pearls ....

- The three other poems by Stephen Martin: Emerging 2, Emerging 3, and Emerging 4

- A poem written by @blockurator entitled We All Sing America Now.

- @elisnext2you's poetry last appeared in our Dose 93. Glad to read you back again, EL, this time with a poem titled You.

- This mysterious poem by @kamiikazer, titled River, took me to a sandy river bank, but it is filled with character.

- Here is @nationall’s other poem, land of Conscience it i well worth a read as well.
