Curation Corner # 13 -- Recap -- Curation With #Travelfeed and RCs Impact on Newbies
This week’s Curation Corner was a bit of a double header in that we were delighted to be joined by @mrprofessor and @rimicane from the @travelfeed curation project as well as @welcomewagon leaders @dreemsteem, @bluefinstudios and @penderis.
The usual one hour show ran almost two hours. After editing the recording is 90 minutes long.
Travelfeed Curation Project
It was great getting to know @mrprofessor and @rimicane and learning more about the @travelfeed curation efforts. There is a team of about five working to find and curate the best of the travel posts on the platform.
If you haven’t been looking at @travelfeed, you may want to. They are finding some great posts.
@mrprofessor had been mentioned last week by our guest @llfarms. He listened to the recording and left some comments about HF 20 and Resource Credits.
The Welcome Wagon Team
This led us to the second part of the show. The Welcome Wagon is a project which has been running since April. It’s goal is to find promising new Steemians, provide them training on how to use the platform and then provide ongoing support as they spread their wings on the platform.
HF 20 and the impact of the RC system on newbies was of particular interest to them. @bluefinstudios, @penderis and @dreemsteem undertook to do some testing on accounts which would represent an actual experience for a new Steemian who had received their account through Steemit and would receive a delegation of 15SP.
They presented their findings on how the new system impacts the ability of a new Steemian to function on the platform if they want to grow. Among the findings they had was an outline of the levels needed for a new Steemian to have a chance:
15 SP — help needed or it’s going to be a long wait
70 SP — can breathe and grow similar to how others have been able to
100 SP — can comment enough to be effective
200 SP — have hit a point to be able to effectively grow and to power up enough to move forward.

Heeey @shadowspub, I wanted to do a much more meaninful comment but things are getting wild over here and I don't want to end up forgetting to comment at all.
I'm absolutely glad that I had the chance to participate on the program, not only by the fact of spreading what we do on TF, but because I got to meet all those amazing people whose main focus is to help others.
