The Daily Sneak 12 June 2018 - with guest curator @paradigmprospect

in #curation6 years ago

Welcome to The Daily Sneak!!!

We reward quality content, AND content curators! Come for the crypto, stay for the community!

You can earn up to 5 SBD per accepted submission for guest curating The Daily Sneak. Submission requirements are published at the bottom of each edition of The Daily Sneak.

Today's guest curator is @paradigmprospect. The spectrum of life is hard to describe - some would argue that's the reason we are living it. How awesome it is that we can find people on Earth who manage to bring out what moves them through language, art and humour, in a way that touches even those who may have never glimpsed such a perspective before.

@paradigmprospect is thrilled to showcase these 5 awesome Steemians today, who cover a large spectrum of the human experience from angles so diverse that it's hard to imagine all of it takes place in the same domain of existence we all share.

Steemit Quality vs Quantity

From time to time I like to feature articles in The Daily Sneak that are geared towards people just arriving on Steemit. After all: We were all beginners once and all of us needed some guidance when we came here, right? Where do I go, how do I calibrate my posts, what type of content wins on Steemit - and why?

To many newcomers it may initially seem that quality is lacking on the platform, but fortunately people like @towjam have been around long enough to remind us that quality on Steemit is sometimes buried but present, if we only look for it. And the long haul is so much more important than pumping out meaningless trash in the hope for some random upvotes by people who don't really care.

Yay for quality and devotion in forming our own networks of genuine authors and contributors!

How Law Influences Our Thinking Patterns About Drugs

I distinctly remember the shock I felt when I heard someone use the word "drugs" in a non-negative way for the first time. I tensed up instantly: "wow these people make jokes about drugs. That's crazy!"

Well, some time later I learned that the whole field of inquiry surrounding drug use in the human realm is full of intellectual landmines, taboos and misconceptions. We grow up with a certain "sense" of what the term is meant to describe, but may soon realize that the term doesn't really carry any information at all except for negative social stigma.

How priceless it is that @celestal shared a well laid-out roadmap for people new to the idea that "drugs are bad". Yes, some might be, some might not be, there are good reasons for and against it and many different factors to be taken into consideration, especially if we are talking about the drugs that our society has uncritically accepted as "safe" simply because they are somehow legal, despite their horrendous effects on people's health.

An enlightening and priceless article my friend! I hope it will be read by many people in the years to come, who took the liberty to question what they have been told by some self-appointed authorities during their early years.

The Weight We Carry

It's been a long time since I read such an eloquent discourse into the trials and tribulations we go through as human beings within the grand scheme of life. I hesitate to even write this preview because there is hardly any point summing up what @satorid has shared with us here, mainly because I would invariably color it through my own lens of life and distort it in claiming he meant "this" when he actually meant "that".

How do we deal with the weights we carry? Is there any "us" to deal with them in the first place, or are we so deeply influenced by our cultural assumptions that we miss the background in obsessing over shape and form?

Safe to say, if you feel lost or in pain, if you are on the search for meaning in this seemingly inexplicable world we find ourselves in... I invite you to take a break from your own story and read up on satori-d's inner monologue that manages to describe what seems indescribable.

Yes! More willingness and trust to all of us in stepping into the center of the cyclone of life and learning how to dance in the storm, as many spiritual teachers have recommended in endless varieties of words and images, no less impactful than this genuine write-up.

My ArtVenture: Pastel drawing “…play with me…”

Before we get too carried away by analyzing who, what and why we are, we may also take a moment to remember some cheerful aspects of life that seem utterly overrated but actually aren't: Cats!

Yeah I know, I know, cute kitty videos might actually be overrated, but how about some amazing drawings that capture a cat's incredible degree of sensibility and depth of character on canvas?

I am super-thrilled to have stumbled upon @stef1's amazing drawings recently, they speak louder than words and manage to carry the viewer away into a world of color and harmony with lots of soul radiating from what he has created and shared with the community.

We also get to catch a glimpse into the different stages of creating such magnificent art. Timeless!

🍌 Banana Protection ~ We've got you covered 🍌

Looking for a break from all the seriousness in the world? Longing for some lighthearted trivia about life, philosophy and our favorite yellow fruits that grow on trees? Look no further!

A Steemit blog by, with, from, for and about bananas and everything related... And no, it doesn't get old!

If you find yourself in desperate need for some eloquent musings around an anthropomorphized collective of bananas that peel away the unquestioned layers of human society... this hilarious blog might just be your thing.

Who would've thought bananas can be such great communicators, with lots of empathy for their daily human predators?

And a real talkative bunch at that! ;)

Conclusion

From truth bombs to really deep thoughts, amazing art to hilarious humor, @paradigmprospect amazes us again with his range of quality selections!

(Writing this conclusion with my wife looking over my shoulder, and she said 'Oh, it's from @paradigmprospect, I should have known.')

Check out each post and let their creators know what you think. For submitting these excellent articles and commentary, @paradigmprospect earns 5 SBD.

Each of these highlighted articles receives full upvotes and resteems from @thedailysneak. In addition, @thedailysneak sponsors featured writers for Steem Basic Income!

Submission Requirements

On to the submission requirements for The Daily Sneak:

  1. You can choose from 2 to 5 articles for your entry. Submissions with only one selected article will be ignored.
  2. All articles chosen for curation need to have been published within the last 5 days before your entry. It may take time for me to publish your curation, and curated articles need to be within the reward window when your submission is published.
  3. You cannot submit your own post for curation. Selections from nsfw will not be accepted. We also check for plagiarism and only highlight original content.
  4. Selected posts should have less than $50 in total rewards and have not previously been curated by The Daily Sneak.
  5. We try to spread the love around, so while selections from authors that have been highlighted before are welcome, they might not be included if the author's last inclusion was recent. Similarly, if you include two articles from the same author in one submission, we will typically highlight only one of the two.
  6. Be sure to include your personal bio for me to introduce you to readers, and make sure that each selection has commentary. This can be just a few sentences about why you think the selection is worth our attention, or what is great about it - something that will make people want to click through the headline and check out the actual article. English is preferred, but other languages will be considered as long as English translation is included.
  7. Please use this web form to submit your entry. https://goo.gl/forms/VH2MGIMEgqZmd9ef1
  8. Including image links to the source article is not required (and we prefer to leave some mystery if photography is highlighted and the article has only one photo.) However, we like to include images in The Daily Sneak, and not including any image links may decrease the likelihood of your submissions being published.

If you include more than 2 articles in your submission and not all are approved for publication, your submission may still be published into an edition of The Daily Sneak, as long as at least 2 articles are approved. This could happen for several different reasons. If you are unsure why an article was cut, please review the submission guidelines again. If you are still unsure, feel free to ask politely why it was cut.

Submission Reward

A brief biography of each guest curator will be included in the edition that uses their submission. In addition, each guest curator will receive 1 SBD for each article from their submission that is highlighted in The Daily Sneak. That's up to 5 SBD for each accepted submission!

Right now @thedailysneak's upvote is not worth as much as we are paying for guest curation. Why do we pay so much for guest curation? We believe that quality curation is very important to Steem. Paying our curators well encourages them to spend more time reviewing content and picking out the best pieces!
