World Bike Day at Putrajaya

Cycling is a great form of exercise. You get a whole body workout from top to toe. It is less strenuous than running and still safe for people with back pain or who are recovering from herniated a disc (slipped disc).

It was world bike day on June 3. We explored Putrajaya on my folding bike on a good morning. Here's us below driving along the LDP heading to misty Putrajaya.

Putrajaya offers a scenic and safe cycling environment to beginners and intermediate cyclist. It has wide roads and dedicated bicycle lanes. On weekends, traffic is a breeze and easy to navigate.

Today, our bike ride takes us around the "island" of Putrajaya Precinct 3 & 18.

This route offers cyclists a scenic ride around the Putrajaya lake. It is about a 9-10km loop on dedicated footpath for cyclist and joggers. People are very friendly along this route. If you get hungry, there's a McDonald's pit stop enroute.

For a more challenging ride, you could try going up the hill which has a steep gradient that will surely test your stamina and legs. The mid-level offers a lookout point of the famous Pink Mosque. The top of the hill (further straining the thighs and lungs) is something of a disappointment. We think it is a dumping site.

We love bike rides in Putrajaya. It is a great way to admire the beautiful architecture of buildings in the area. We suggest to park your car at the Pink Mosque and work your around or at the car park next to McDonald's where you can have a drink after your ride.
