"Ready for Takeoff!"

I captured this Magpie Lark just as he happened to spread his wings and get ready for take off. I applied a texturized digital effect to my original photo to add a little drama to the scene.

Magpie Larks are neither magpies nor larks, therefore their name is quite misleading. Because of their black and white colours, they are often mistaken for the Australian Magpie but their bills are whitish and their irises are pale in colour. Magpie-larks are confined to Australasia and are found throughout Australia.

They are sometimes called Peewees, Peewits or Mudlarks and are found in parks, gardens, and streetscapes but enjoy bushland and farm areas too. Their robust nests are made from mud and rootlets. Fat, juicy worms, insects, caterpillars, spiders, small lizards and moths make up their diet and they find most of these tasty morsels in the grass or patches of sparse and soft ground areas.

THANK YOU FOR VIEWING. HAVE A GREAT DAY.
