Daily Dose of Sultnpapper 10/13/18> I need to correct something and give away some SBI, it is Saturday.

Earlier in the week...

Earlier in the week while I was on the road I mentioned the phone call that the wife got from the veterinarian office about bringing in our deceased guinea pig for a check up. Well I was mistaken about which deceased guinea pig that was. It turned out that they weren’t calling about Mrs. Knibbles but were calling about Percie.

Called them back...

My wife called them back on Friday and spoke to the office manager and expressed her unhappiness with the whole situation that had taken place last year regarding both of those pets. The office manager said that it shows in the records that Mrs. Knibbles did in fact die so they got those records correct with Percie though, that is a whole different story.

The vet office records...

The vet office records show that Percie was treated and that two follow up phone calls from the vet that treated Percie showed that Percie had responded to the medicine and was doing fine and didn’t need to be seen again until a annual checkup was due or some other issue should arise.

My wife explained...

My wife explained to the office manager that we never received a follow up phone call regarding Percie’s health and how he was responding. In fact my wife waited two days from when their office treated him and because he seemed to be declining she phoned their office and the vet that treated him told my wife that we “should probably take him and get his back teeth checked.”

That was exactly...

Well that was exactly what the my girls told that vet the day they had Percie in there and that was supposed to have done that, she looked in his mouth but it turns out that a special apparatus or device is needed to open the guinea pig’s mouth far enough open to check the back teeth and their office doesn’t have the tool.

That is why...

That is why we ended up at the vet who did have it but really three days to late for Percie, he was too far in decline and didn’t survive but a few hours after his teeth were worked on by the second vet.

He told us the...

To the credit of the second vet, he told us the chances of him surviving were not good before he did the work, but when you have two young girls who already had lost one of their pets you do whatever you can pray for a miracle; knowing full well the chances are slim to none.

Left their practice...

The office manager said that the vet that treated our pets left their practice a couple months after we had our bad experience with that vet. Their office had gotten numerous complaints regarding that vet for diagnoses and treatments that were wrong or unnecessary. The office manager said that the vet actually resigned and left the state, almost like she was fleeing to avoid an investigation. The office manager thought she headed to Arizona and is practicing over there.

Why is it...

Why is it that all these so called professional people have to “practice”? You pay good money for these folks, they should know what the guzbuck they are doing, people in school “practice” to learn, I want some who knows what they are doing, not practicing and charging me while they are learning doing it.

This vet office...

This vet office asked if we would get copies of the records from the vet that actually worked on Percie trying to save him, I don’t know what they would want them for and the wife hasn’t decided if she is going to do it. The only thing I can think of is that they may be wanting to alert the Arizona officials or they might be going to file a suit or claim against that vet that work for them malpractice insurance company. Her actions and mistakes may have hurt their reputation big time.

I have set the...

So I have set the record straight with the help of Mrs. Papper and her sharing the information about her return call to the vet office.

Without any more...

Without any more delay let’s give away some Steem Basic Income shares. This week I have gone to the “recent replies section” of the Sultnpapper blog for some winners, I haven’t done that in a while and seeing how I am a member of the #steemitbloggers there are some of those members who just happen to be in the comments section and have been selected.

@wales...

First up today is @wales, I have to give a share for the most recent comment he made, it was so far over my head I had to comment back and have him put it in plain old fashion English for me. He did and it turned out that it was actually a real nice comment, according to what he told me the first comment meant. So, one share goes to him.

amirtheawesome1...

The second selection goes to @amirtheawesome1 he is doing me a favor and keeping track of what is going on in Iraq with regard to the dinar, the currency of Iraq. I have a friend who swears that any day the Iraqi dinar is going to re-value and he will be a millionaire from it, he already has a bunch of money and so I hope it does come through for him.

If it does I will just go to work for him as his personal assistant and keeps his old classic cars polished up for him. He is currently building a really bad ass 56 Chevy Nomad two door station wagon that is really going to be both fast and a show stopper. So Amir is "numero dos" as we say in Tex-Mex.

@tryskele...

Last but not least is @tryskele who is a pretty damn good artist in my opinion and even though I am a redneck I can appreciate some nice paintings too. So that wraps up this edition of SBI Saturday and the Daily Dose. Ya’ll come back now, ya hear.

Until next time,
@sultnpapper

First off, good on Mrs. P for following up. That's the only way stuff like this gets resolved and bad vets get chased. It pisses me off when I find 'followups' that didn't happen. That is inexcusable.

Back in the 90s sometime my Dad and his family sold a farm in Washington State. It had a complication, part of it was originally homesteaded by his father. His brother and sister were both gone so the easy way was for him to physically go to Washington to release that homestead. Otherwise all the next generation would have had to sign off on it. No problem. Until he had a stroke. So as soon as he was medically cleared to ride I flew to Yuma to drive them home.

His cardiologist insisted that he have an internist waiting on him. Just so happens I knew one, one of the finest doctors I have ever met. Anyway, the day we were to leave we had to stop at the Cardiologists office to pick up his most recent records to hand deliver. No problem.

I had my Mom and Dad in the car and ran into the office to get the records as soon as they were open. I went to the front desk and the receptionist said the doctor wanted to see me. I shuffled my feet and explained that my folks were in the car and the doctor appeared. She gave me the finger wave to follow, and I did. She ducked into her office and shut the door. We didn't sit and she got right at it. "You need to sue that butcher that changed your father's prescription (warfin) with out following up. He just damn near killed him". This nice looking woman dropped a couple f bombs, mentioned that is the only way to get bad doctors out of practice and said she had to go.

They decided that the doctor was a really nice guy and declined. Two pacemakers and Alzheimer's followed. I can't prove it, but....

When I moved to Yuma there was a business on the main drag (4th Avenue) named 'Dead Doctors Don't Lie'. It was a health food store run by a woman that had a bone to pick with the medical community :)

Once again, thanks for your SBI initative. It really is a good thing.

That is a shame about your father and even if filing suit wasn't what your Father and Mother wanted to do even just a complaint to the board of medicine may have been in order to start an investigation.
We should have done it and the second vet wanted to send Percie to have Texas A&M University for an autopsy that he said he would make sure that we wouldn't have to pay for but the girls didn't want him cut up, the just wanted to take him back home and bury him next to his brother.
That second vet may very well have initiated something with the vet board of medicine for all we know, I just know that it appears at least someone did. We dropped the ball by not doing it and that was bad on our part.
I like that name of that business and I remember that there have been numerous doctors that had some "mysterious" "accidental" deaths but just can't think of what it was that exactly it was in reference too at the moment but it seems like it was some medicine that was being investigated and the number of doctors was around eight or so that ended up dying. So that name, Dead Doctors Don't Lie, has some truth to it for sure.

I'd never given the word practice a thought as used by professionals, quite a scary thought especially with doctors!

What made me realize and pay attention to the word "practice"first came about due to the use of it by attorneys and how most attorneys are referred to here in the USA.

Here attorneys are referred to as "attorney at law" or as a "practicing attorney at law". There is good reason for the use of the term "practicing" with lawyers and it all hinges on the word "at".

The law of the land in the USA is "common law" and the common law and courts have been done away with and replaced with codes and statutes and courts of equity. So an attorney can't work "in" law, because "law" no longer exists here. The can get right up close to it or nearly "at" law, which is those codes and statutes but they can't say honestly that they work "in law" because you can't work in an arena that isn't there any longer.

Most people don't pay any attention to little nuances in the use of words and phrases but those are there and used for reasons. Kind of like the use of artificial sweeteners, those aren't good for people for the most part but they have less calories and make what ever they are used in almost seem like tasting the same as when sweetened with real natural sugars.

The real common law would be "the natural" and the codes and statutes would be "the artificial".

Doctors I think use the word "practice" since none of them really do anything more than write prescriptions or do procedures. "Working" would imply that you are actually accomplishing something and would have results to show for it. We have one hospital here in Houston that uses the saying, "Leading Medicine." That's great or so it sounds, how about it though? To me I see that as they are prescribing a whole lot of pharmaceuticals. Nothing in the phrase, Leading Medicine, says anything about curing health issues.

There is no money in curing people; the money is made in having patients. Why are people called "patients" anyway? The reason is we are told it takes "time" to come up with these cures for diseases and illnesses, so we the public who are in need of these things need to be patient; the medical profession is trying to solve the issues or so they say, so be patient.
I damn near have made this reply long enough to be a Daily Dose and with good information for folks to consider, I hope people read all the comments because you made the perfect reply for me to turn lose on this subject Lizelle. Thanks so much for that, I do truly appreciate it and thanks for saying,"I'd never given the word practice a thought... " because most of us never have, we were never taught to think or question like we really should.
Okay, I am getting down from my soap box now, we can return to normal now.

Well well well mr Papper, that's a whole lot of information there, I believe this subject is deserving of a post all on its own and I mean what I'm saying!
Patients certainly are better for their pockets, so unless we're happy to be patient about getting better, that's exactly what we will remain!
Have to be careful with words now before you find another one mr Papper :):)
Look forward to that post about Words, reminds me of the song...Words, don't come easy to me... Or perhaps they come too easy!

Sometimes I just get carried away on replying but while the iron is hot I started shaping the metal while it is still glowing red.

I would file a claim against him for sure!

I think that a complaint to the board of vet medicine is more in order than a claim for damages, at least with the complaint the state should investigate it but I don't know that the vet still is even licensed in Texas. The wife and I need to talk it over and check and see if she still holds a license here I will encourage the wife to file the complaint since she was the actual person who was there, I was on the road when these things took place and only was communicating with the wife by phone in trying to decide what was needed to be done as things were happening.

I wonder how many pets she will mistreat in Arizona before someone clues in...I would hope she finds another line of work, perhaps flipping burgers! Incompetent professionals really get under my skin. Or as my son tells me mom, you're burning the biscuits again! Professionals shouldn't need to practice!

That's a good line about the biscuits, I am inclined to use that at some point I am sure, so tell your boy that and thank him for me.
I agree professionals shouldn't need practice, maybe more proficiency testing, but not practice.

My son says, Thank you and you are welcome to use it anytime!

howdy sir sultnpapper! very good post sir, you gotta keep on people to make them do what they're supposed to be getting paid to do, it's nuts.

Hey do you have any Iraqi Dinar your self?

No I don't have any Dinar. Glad you liked this post, sorry responding later than usual extremely busy trying to wrap things up.

Wow, that is just awful!
What a shame when you trust the vet with your pet's life and they are irresponsible like that. :(
I hope they catch her and prevent her from doing anyone else like that.

I don't know that Texas will go looking for her, but surely is irresponsible and makes you wonder just how tough is it to pass the vet exam and get a license.

Some people are just good at taking tests. Im like that. I can take a test about something I know nothing about and pass with flying colors. I can cram for a test, pass, and not retain any of the info.
Im sure there are lots of vets, and medical doctors who are like this and know much less than you think....

Yes, I am sure that may be the case. They should at least know that they "don't know" though and then refer to a reference book or some other source instead of pretending. That is the part that is most disturbing to me and that cost the girls two pets that meant a whole lot to them. Not to mention the money we spent on trying to save them.
I am going to suggest to the wife to seek a refund for that now that I think about it. That office knows that she was guzbucking up and she worked for them. They need to make good on that now that I think about it.

Yes! A refund AT LEAST should be due to you, if not also the cost of replacing the animals as well.

Well the animals were given to the girls at no cost so that wouldn't amount to much, but the services we paid for weren't rendered properly nor were they cheap.
