DISCUSSION TOPIC:
Expose Sin Before It Spreads

BIBLE READING:
Leviticus 14:33-57

Qs. 1, 2. See Questions HERE.

DISCUSSION:

This law was given in anticipation of problem that may arise in future when the Israelites would have settled in the Promised Land (vs. 33-34). We serve a God who knows the end from the beginning, and nothing takes him by surprise. Like the infectious mildew, sin can still be found in our churches, though we are supposed to be holy. Thus, it is important that we put measures in place to handle sin before it shows up.

Read v. 35 again. It was the responsibility of the owner of the house to inform the priest if he sees anything that looks like mildew in his house. How does this apply to us today?

Each of us should take responsibility for our lives personally (Num. 32:23; Gal. :4a). When we notice sinful behaviour in our lives, we should not hide it; rather we should expose it and seek for help. Similarly, as leaders, we are required by God to deal with sin and corruption in our families, churches, fellowships and communities, promptly before it festers. (See Ephesians 5:11; 1 Corinthians 5:6b). If sin is not tackled early, it will lead ultimately to destruction (vs. 44-45).

So what?

What practical steps will you take to safeguard your family from sinful and corrupting tendencies that are so prevalent in our time?

Prayer:

Ask God to keep you and your family safe from sinful and corrupting habits rampant in these last days.
