DISCUSSION:
The Psalmist, inspired and excited about the King, wrote this song from the overflow of his heart, in praise of the King and his bride (v.1). The psalm was written for an historic event, possibly the wedding of a king. However it is prophetic and messianic. The King can be none else than Christ because he alone is both God (v.6) and man (v.2; cf. Hebrews 1: 8-9) and the pride represents the Church.
Why should we praise the King (vs. 2-8)? The pride is admonished to be totally devoted, loyal to and honour the King above all others (vs. 10-11). How does this apply to us today?
Vs. 13-15 pictures the Church as she unites with Christ forever when He comes again (Revelation 19: 6-9). Are you prepared for the marriage of the Lamb? (See Matthew 25: 1-13).
Christ alone deserves the praises of the Church. True worship is an outflow of our heartfelt response to God in appreciation of who he is and for his love for us.
What next?
The more you know God and realize what He has done, the more you will respond with praise.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, steer your Church unto true worship, and stir our hearts to desire the beauty of holiness.
REMAIN BLESSED!
