The Throne of God

DISCUSSION:

John the apostle was ushered into heaven and given a view of the throne of God. Read Revelations 1: 17-18 and find out who it was that led him. The apostle was in the Spirit (v.2) and this put him in the right frame of mind to see what he saw. If you and I are to properly perceive the things of God, then, we must walk in the Spirit.

Try to imagine what John saw - the throne and the one seated on it; the beauty and the majesty of the throne. Observe the twenty-four thrones and those seated on them. How are they dressed?

V.5 should remind us of what the people of Israel saw on Mount Sinai when God descended on it. See Exodus 19:16. Note the presence of the Holy Spirit (v.5). Finally, try to imagine the four living creatures. What would you suggest they represent?

The four living creatures and the twenty-four elders worship God. They proclaim his holiness and eternal existence. They also proclaim his glory and honour and power. It is amazing to read how the twenty-four elders worship God - they fall down before him and lay their crowns before the throne!

Let us as children of God in Christ Jesus also always join these heavenly beings to worship the Lord since we owe our very existence and salvation to him.

PRAYERS FOR THE WEEK :

Pray for senior citizens of Nigeria, thanking God for some privileges that the Government gives to them in certain areas. Pray that they will be useful in the society by giving productive counsel to the leadership and groups. Pray for Deeper Life Bible Church.
