Introducing “Decentralized 2018” | A Blockchain Summit in Athens, Greece

The blockchain revolution is already noticeable for everyone as long as people start to pay close attention to what’s happening in the world, not only are the words “blockchain” and “decentralized” getting more used than ever before, but all types of institutions, whether they are government institutions, private companies or educational institutions like universities, all of them are slowly but surely, getting involved with this new technology and are working in figuring out how to adopt it in the most productive possible way.

There are already blockchain courses being officially implemented by some world-class universities all around the planet, and the same happens with gatherings, summits, and conferences, they are getting more and more popular with an increasing number of people attending these events, as well as an increasing number of speakers and exhibitors.

Only yesterday I was writing an article about another conference, one from Indonesia, and today I would like to share some information about an upcoming event that will be beginning in about 13 days.

What is Decentralized 2018?

This is a blockchain event that’s going to be hosted in Athens, Greece by the well-known University of Nicosia, which is one of the global leaders when it comes to providing education about blockchain topics, as well as investing time and resources in researching the new opportunities that this technology makes possible.

The University of Nicosia is so involved with blockchain technology, that they have made available for their students “the world's first full academic degree in blockchains, the MSc in Digital Currency." ^Source Besides, they were “the first university in the world to publish academic certificates on the blockchain” and “the first university in the world to publish all diplomas of all graduating students (Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD) on the Bitcoin blockchain”, ^Source they are clearly leading the way regarding blockchain adoption when it comes to educational institutions, and other universities will surely follow in their footsteps.

This event is going to start in 13 days, on November 14 and it is going to last until November 16, it is expected for there to be around 1000 attendees, which makes this event one of the biggest ones for the blockchain scene.

There will be around 20 exhibitors showcasing their projects and what they can achieve with their developments, more than 30 media partners are going to document and report about everything that’s being discussed in the summit, and in total, there should be people from more than 50 countries attending this exciting event.

The speakers

The speakers are probably the most important element of this organization, because they are going to be the ones giving the talks and doing the expositions to give insights about the implications that blockchain technology can have in a variety of industries, there will be more than 70 speakers in total.

These speakers are leaders from the blockchain industry, venture capitalists looking to invest in promising projects and ideas, members of the University of Nicosia, and there are even speakers from the European Parliament and the European Commission, which leaves it pretty clear that government institutions are indeed interested in adopting blockchain technology.

November 14 is the day where one of the biggest blockchain summits known as “Decentralized 2018” is going to start, this year it is in Athens, Greece.
