Apathy, Sympathy and Empathy 冷漠，同情和同理心

It is said, “The rise and fall of a nation is the responsibility of every citizen.” If the nation is invaded, the citizens have to defend their land and protect the people. However, a battle may not occur because of external invasion. The nation can face a critical moment during the time of national election. In a democratic system, the citizens have been given the right and responsibility to cast their votes to determine who will govern them for a designated time. Therefore, it is critical for every citizen to cast his or her vote wisely and responsibly. There are three types of voters.

The first type of voters are apathetic. They do not bother about the nation and casting votes is optional to them. They may go to the polls to cast their votes or let go their right and fail to fulfil their responsibility. Their emotion is apathy.

The second type of voters are sympathetic. They look at the scenario of their nation and are aware of the poor scenes that affecting many. Therefore, they want to go and cast votes sympathetically. However, they are not prepared to go beyond just casting their votes even though they have the liberty to share their insights and pray according to their conviction and conscience. Their emotion is sympathy.

The third type of voters are empathetic. They are aware of the scenario and they can see both the present and what possibly will happen to the nation through the critical election. They are willing to tie themselves with the rest of the people in their nation. Therefore, they are passionate to cast their votes relevantly. And they even go beyond just casting their votes by offering what they possibly can for a defining moment of their nation through the election. Their emotion is empathy.

正所谓，”国家兴亡、匹夫有责!” 如果这个国家受到入侵，公民有责任捍卫國土和保护人民。然而，一个國家不一定在面対到外来侵略才会面临紧张形势。一个国家在国民选举期间可能就是一个关键时刻。在民主制度下，公民有权利和责任投票决定谁将在指定时间内执政。因此，每个公民必须明智而负责任地投票。有三种类型的选民。

第一类选民无动于衷。他们不关心国家，也不在意如何投票及作出选择。他们可能会投票或放弃权利而不履行责任。冷漠即是这种选民的情绪。

第二类选民釆取了同情态度。他们观察国家的情况，并意识到了许多人的苦境。因此，他们带着同情心投票。他们却不愿多走一里路，即使他们能够分享见解并根据他们的信念和良知祈祷，他们仅仅是尽了投票的义务。同情即是这第二类选民的情绪。

第三种选民具有同理心，他们看到国家的现况，也意识到国家可能的未来，他们要通过关键性的选举取得好的未来，他们愿意与国家的未来连繫在一起。因此，他们除了热衷于投票，他们甚至愿意进一步地贡献自己。同理心乃是这类选民的情绪。
