Hey everyone!

Last year we gathered a bunch of inspiring young people who are dissatisfied with the status quo and wants to make a change. We were in Malaga, secluded in a villa up in the mountains, and had workshops around personal growth, how the future workplace looks like and how to make change.

This past week, we had our second gathering. Due to a lot of troubles (an airline went bankrupt and 15 people therefore missed their flights and deposits), we weren't as many this time. But we had a goal: to make an impact, as we had already discussed that we wanted to do so.

The focus of the trip was to work on something called COP 13 (coalition of parties) which in short revolves around sustainable tourism. We worked together with the Punta Mita Association, majorly owned by Bill Gates, and came up with a lot of cool suggestions and solutions on how tourism can be done sustainably together with the locals.

I will definitely update you guys on the results, we're still wrapping up some of the paperwork.

The days leading up to the work on the case for the association, we went around Punta de Mita in Puerto Vallarta to figure out what issues they had. Mainly they were:

  • Tourists littering on the beaches and streets
  • Drugs, especially concerning kids in school who would often drop out and take the easy route and get involved in selling
  • Hotels coming up everywhere without the locals knowing about it

One of the first day we did a beach cleanup to try to figure out the main things that were thrown out, and no surprise: cigarette butts, beer caps, bottles and sick pack nets were huge. As well as clothes for some reason.

We also tried to do something about the other issues, I'll update you on that soon!

I am still humbled by all the people I've met this past week, and I certainly believe that a lot of these could benefit from STEEM. Out of respect, I haven't pushed @deegramofficial and STEEM too hard this week, as this doesn't revolve around us. But there are definitely interest by some, and I think that we could establish something great here and empower those who are not as fortunate as others.

Hope you all are having a great start of the new week!

STEEM on ♥️
