The Bauhaus had a heavy influence on developments in art, architecture, graphic design, interior design, industrial design and typography. This school existed in 3 German cities Weimar (1919 to 1925), Dessau (1925 to 1932), and Berlin (1932 to 1933) Their vision was to provide new and affordable designs that could be of use to every kind of person anywhere.

The typography and graphics were completely revolutionised by the teachings of this movement. The focus was on clear and readable fonts, with color used for a lot of emphasis. There was a lot of play with layouts in the form of slant angles, lines, shapes, color blocks, forms etc.

Thus, the school had such a large influence on the history of design. The students were taught to focus on primary shapes and colors with the principle of form follows function. For example: Wassily chair. The Bauhaus chess set by Josef Hartwig is an amazing example of design simplicity combined with function. Their courses taught students to eliminate the ideas of individuality and instead focus on the productivity of design. The instructors were of the highest level of skill and understanding. For example: Paul Klee. Even after the closure of Bauhaus, the members took this attitude to life with them all over the world and the impact is still seen today.
