Should The Government Tax The Private Vehicles Owner Very Heavily?

Here is what I drafted and submitted in less than 250 words.

Despite the traffic problems, the government should not tax heavily private vehicle owners. That is because owning a private vehicle can be a necessity for some people. Also, it can be argued that not all people live in an urban area which is accessible by a mass public transportation. More often, they have different schedules and in need of flexibility to commute. Furthermore, one can argue that providing either free or very cheap public transportation is not public’s obligation but the government

One can also argue that traffic issues are not merely caused by owning a private vehicle. There are plenty other reasons to examine such as: bad traffic management system, narrow and obstacles in the road, also imbalance development. For instance in Indonesia, instead of setting the red lights too long with minimum green lights, they can extend the duration of the green light. Thus, it will not increase the car’s volume on the road which often cause traffic jam. Then again, if the government is very serious about solving the traffic problems, they should build a reachable mass public transportation- which available until the suburban area where workers usually reside.
