DIY : How to FIX a filled POOL

To mend a pool without draining water

You will need to mend your pool if water leaks through a leak. With a self-made underwater adhesive, you can repair a plastic pool, without draining the water.

How to fix a filled pool

You will need a brush, package strap and construction silicone, which you either push out of the usual cartridges with a "pistol" or use one of the mini cartridges with integrated spray device.

Find the leak. If the water is not crystal clear, you should first remove the haze.

Use a brush to clean inside the hole from the inside, so that there is no film on the film.

Cut off the package tape about 10 cm and place it with the adhesive side up on a base.
Press out of the cartridge a more or less large piece of silicone compound on the middle of the package tape.

Pick up the tape with your hands and step into the pool.

Press the "pool plaster" on the leak. Try to apply as much pressure as possible. Because the better the silicone that displaces water on the pool wall and gets into the hole, the longer the repair will last.

The silicone should be cured after about 24 hours.
If it feels hardened, you can carefully pull off the package tape.

That's why silicone gets stuck in the pool water

Even with the normal processing - such as for joints in the bathroom - silicone does not dry. Instead, the material reacts with the humidity, which leads to cross-linking, that is, to hardening.

In the water this process happens in the same way. The silicone also gets hard in your pool water, helping to make it easy to repair the leak.

The purpose of the package tape repair is to apply and press the underwater adhesive without getting your hands dirty.

This is a great post on fixing a pool and perfect timing since it is almost summer time here. My sister was actually looking for a good solution to patch up their pool because it has a small tear in it from last summer. Good walk through and thanks for sharing!
