What Will Our Society Look Like When Artificial Intelligence Is Everywhere?

I have recently started reading the book Life 3.0 by Max Tegmark, which is exploring what would happen if machines developed human thoughts and emotions and how this could change the world.

After doing some reading online I cam across this interesting article. What if robots had emotions - what rights would they have? How would they integrate into society? What would happen if they became more smart than humans and could code themselves?

It might sound a bit like an episode of Black Mirror, but I believe the rate of technological advancement means that something like this could happen in my lifetime. Some people think it is purely science fiction, but I am more skeptical and think that we could one day be run by robots.
