German cyclist Fiona Kolbinger won a 2,485-mile (3,999-km) cycling race by 10 hours ahead of her closest opponent this week.

Last January, British runner Jasmin Paris became the first woman to win the 268-mile Mountain Spine Race in the United Kingdom.

And in May, British junior doctor Katie Wright won the Riverhead Backyard ReLaps Ultra-Marathon in New Zealand.

Hahaha! 😊 You're right. But research shows that with ultra-endurance, women can endure. But with short distances, women cannot win over men. That's what the article says. And they have scientific explanation backing it up. And maybe, just maybe, they have a point.

can means something like "it is possible".
If it comes to real life I think it is yes, they go on for hours, days if necessary no matter if they are tired, more a need to survive.
