My Portfolio #3 Mahogany Side Table

in #dlike6 years ago

This is a mahogany side table I made for a clients hallway.

It sits in between the two carved mirrors that appeared in the last post in this series.

The table was based on furniture from the Georgian period and has cabriole legs.

The legs were shaped by hand and because of the curves the joints were done by hand.

The top apron or rails were made from solid mahogany and then veneered with a 4mm thick sawn veneer. I made the veneer myself so that all the wood was from the same batch of timber.
I used crown grain sapele because of the figure.

I stained the table to get a rich mahogany colour which is expected with this style of furniture.

Many thanks,

@jist
