Public safety is being put at risk as young criminals are being released from young offenders’ institutions (YOIs) without a suitable place to live, say prison inspectors. They found that almost one in seven (14 per cent) of children did not know where they would be living ten days before their release which meant many did not have education, training, employment or mental health support in place when they left
