A supercomputer that works like the human brain has just been activated

Coming in, Manchester University recently activated the world’s largest neuromorphic supercomputer

>Researchers at Manchester University have just switched on the world’s largest neuromorphic supercomputer. While a neuromorphic supercomputer may be the closest thing we have to an artificial brain, we’re still a long way off from building that huge, unnerving head-shaped computer from The Matrix: Revolutions - which is a good thing.A neuromorphic supercomputer, in case you’re unfamiliar, mimics the biological neural activities of a human brain by emitting “spikes” of pure electro-chemical energy. To achieve this, scientists at Manchester University built the computer with one million processors at its core, which admittedly seems like a lot of processors for one computer to have.

Wow this is like that movie Transcendence. It's a little scary what a thinking and self conscious machine could do

One thing I have learned about Hollywood, they always pass some futuristic messages to us audience, that's if only we chose to see it.

I recall reading about this in Manchester a little while back.  I did not realize it went live.  It is of benefit that we are getting into this.  AI is going to change things.

Well, I hope they don't take over the world like in Terminator

I feel like this is dumbing down a computer? Our brains are slow compared to computers its why we created them

True my friend, but the human brain can recall taste, smell, color etc am so don't think supercomputers could do that.
