The interesting part is that every politician knows that crypto has a future... although volatile in nature, everyone can benefit from using it because it is decentralized, if you buy goods, there is no middlemen so you save a lot of money... If the country allows Bitcoin to be accepted as donation then why not?

I agree, many believe it has a bright future but dont fully understand the differences and the benefits it would bring.

Am I the only one that finds it strange that it took this long?

i think the title is a little misleading it's the first politician in taiwan to accept

here is an irish politican who started accepting bitcoin around the 18th of April 2014 thoguh to date as yet to recive a donation, i belive its more to do with the poltical party hes with than anything .

They knew about cryptocurrencies back then. But why it took so many years? Maybe they saw more and more people embracing it.

it is strange and the US Federal Elections Commission  in 2014 put a cap on donation per U.S citizen at $100 when the price was around $300 so it seems they were worried about anyone campaigning on a Bitcoin platform
