0-day vulnerability that gives full control of Android phones

Attackers can exploit the newly discovered vulnerability (the so-called "zero day" hole) on some Android phones and take full control of them.

Currently, the hole is present in at least eighteen different phones, including four different Google Pixel models, Huawei's P20 and Samsung's Galaxy S7, S8 and S9. Google has already announced a security patch to be released in the coming days.

The vulnerability comes from the Linux kernel, but it was fixed there in early 2018. While the patch was also included in the Android kernel, these security patches were not subsequently installed on all Android devices via automatic software upgrades.
