Kai Shappley Transgender Girl braves the World
U.S America has always been riddled with bigots, but for a while it seemed that things were getting better for us in the LGBTQIA community. NOw the atmosphere is becoming more and more toxic hatred fueled by our current administration has us feeling unsafe and worried. We see our rights being stripped away, others being threatened. This little girl braved conversion attempts by her family, punishment, physical abuse yet she stood strong. Her resilience her strength changed the heart and mind of her deeply religious and bigoted mother. To those of us afraid I say let us mirror some of that strength and try to be as brave as she is when facing the wall of hate presented to us. And to those who hate us I say Look into the face of this seven year old and ask yourself what is broken in you that you would wish for her anything but acceptance and love for who she is.

I am not, nor will I ever willingly be, part of the problem. I love this young lady and her well-meaning but misguided mother. There is even room in my heart for the men who think all I need is their magic wand to show me the error of my ways.
All we need is love, Grace
