Donald Trump told Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, in justifying recent tariffs on Canada, that Canadians burned down the White House in 1812, which is not true

When they sandblasted the White House to remove over one dozen coats of white pain in the early 1990s, one could still see the burn marks from the British Army's burning of the house in the War of 1812 (the burning occurred in 1814, to be precise).
