@mslight2016st and I went out to a friend's community group gathering last night and provided a short set of tunes while folks ate their dinner.

In this post, though, it's just me jamming solo and performing the HIT CLASSIC ABC SONG!!! ;)

Contrary to what many folks may think, libertarianism is alive and well in Japan. You've just got to know where to look for it. Independently organized groups like this, that provide busy and lower-income families a place to chill out, have a meal, and connect with one another in the midst of the "rat race" are all over the place.

There is a deep respect for nature here, and this engenders a kind of live and let live attitude in the culture that many are unaware of.

High suicide rates, unpaid overtime, horrific psychological and physical abuse at public schools, merciless oligarchical government policy--these certainly are all part of the state-engendered culture here. That said, this independent, individual caring and compassionate outlook on life is everywhere, and I have found, is the real culture of the individuals here, underneath it all.
