Winner, winner, chicken dinner! Who the hell came up with that? Apparently it is in reference to cock fighting. Well last night I had my chicken dinner!

Last night I headed out to Pala Casino in Pala, CA because every Friday night they give away a car. While I didn't win the car, I did come home a happy camper, $1500 richer!

It all started on my favorite slot machine, The Walking Dead. I first played the original version of this machine in 2015. I won $500 on it and since then I have been playing all its successors, usually winning.

Anyway, after playing some other machines and losing about $100 I made my way to The Walking Dead machines by the entrance. Luckily there was an open machine. Usually, these are occupied and there are people waiting behind each one so they get their chance to play.

Within about 20min I had hit my first small jackpot of $75. For those of you familiar with the machine, it was the Michone Attack! Michone comes on the screen an turns all the human characters to the same symbol, in this case, Michone.

At this point I was back to about breaking even with the amount of cash I brought. I still had 3hrs to go before they announced the winner of the car so it felt good to be back up. Then came an even better jackpot.....

At this point I knew I would go home with more money than I came with, which is always nice, even if it's $100.

The machine was hot. I kept getting the bonus rounds, Michone Attacks & the Zombie Hordes. The wins were larger than normal too so I played on.

After that small win I pulled $300 out of the machine and put $50 back in. It must have triggered the machine because only a few minutes afterward, BAM!

It happened so fast I wasn't sure at first and didn't have my phone ready.

At this point I was up to about $1750, not including the $200 I brought with me to play with. Unfortunately, there was still 2.5 hours to go before the winner of the car was announced. So I played the machine a little more, won a little more, then moved two machines over to the Game of Thrones machine.

John Snow had my back there. As soon as I sat down, two small wins.

After the second win I took a break, went to the bathroom and walked around a bit. I probably should have gotten my comped buffet dinner, but since they were giving away $1,000 every 30 minutes to people playing games there was no time for food.

That may not have been the best strategy as the rest of the night was a downhill slog. I didn't win any of the $1,000 drawings or the car. A woman won the car and claimed it right away. Instead of the car, an Alfa Romeo, she chose the cash instead, $30,000. I don't blame her. I would have taken the cash too and bought a nice Toyota truck with it.

I left the casino with just over $1600 and a nice euphoric high that should carry me through this next week.

Life is about luck, good and bad. Yes, there are many things we can do to improve our circumstances, but there are also things beyond our control that can end our lives tomorrow. Some people are born with a silver spoon in their mouths, some are born into 3rd world poverty. Some people just get lucky. Last night lady luck was on my side.
